I just bought Vienna Suite, and can't see the list of VS plug-ins when working with VI Pro within Vienna Ensemble. When I try to add an effect, I only see a pull-down list of Apple plug-ins. What do I need to do to see the VS plug-in list?

I'm working on an iMac 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb of ram. I use Cubase Studio 4 as my DAW, but I also can't find the plug-ins when using the VE stand-alone.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jim,

I just wanted to reply, but it seems as you have found the right way to assign plugin-paths yourself. :-)

Kind regards,

Gee guys... thanks for ALMOST saying it...

How do you assign plug-in paths? I just got Vienna Suite and am having the same problem, only the Apple plug-ins appear...

Please help (and thanks)

In Vienna Ensemble goto OPTIONS menu and select VST SETTINGS, then click on ADD FOLDER and select the location where the Vienna Suite plug ins are.

I have a dedicated folder, that I use for VE plug ins, as it is the clearest way to see things. You can have more than one VST Plugin  Folder within VE. You will need to restart VE, as the plugins are scanned at start up.

Thanks for the quick reply... I use Vienna Ensemble v4.1.7043 (for the Mac), and I don't see an options menu. Sounds like you are talking about the directory manager where you tell the program what folders to scan when it starts.... I tried finding the Vienna Suite plugins on my mac, but failed...

Where does the installer put the plugins in a normal install? and am I right that you are referring to the directory manager?

BTW I'm using VE as a VST with sibelius.

Thanks

Jeff

VE doesn't host VST plugins on OS X, so VST settings do not apply there. The reason you're not seeing all your AU's is because you're connected to the 64-bit VE Service, which can only host 64-bit AU's. All VSL plugins are fully 64-bit compatible though, so unless you have a very old version of VIenna Suite installed, they should appear fine.

If you really want to use the 32-bit Service for some reason, make sure that only the 32-bit Service is running when you add VE plugins to your host. The VE plugin prefers the 64-bit Service, unless only the 32-bit Service is already running.

So i'm getting confused... more confused. I used the directory manager to direct the program to scan the correct files... So when I load up VE as a standalone, I see the plug-ins just fine. But when I start Sibelius, load a score that uses VE as a VST (64-bit service, or not) I see only the Apple AU plug-ins. So what do I have to do? I just bought and installed a new version of Vienna Suite this week.

btw, both Sibelius and Digital Performer find and load the Suite plug-ins fine...

Please help

Jeff

Would be very interested in this solution as I am having the same problem with VE in DP7.22. Thanks

I am on a PC using VST's not AU's so I don't know that things my be different, but the directory manager sets where the sample libraries are, but Vienna Suite is effect plug in's, and the path for these are set in the VST settings (I assume AU's work the same as VST's).

You will need to make sure that your Vienna Suite folder is set in VE, Sibelius has it's own path settings for plugins, which is why they work in Sibelius, though careful not to move the plug in's as Sibelius will loose track of them then (you'll have to reset the settings in Sibelius then)

Yeah... When I Used the Directory Manager (described above) it enabled VE to find the Suite plug-ins in Stand-alone mode, but not when operating under sibelius. I Need someone from VSL to explain.  Please.
