    Shakuman.

  •  Hi shakuman,

in this thread http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/27489.aspx there's a link to the free download of the manual.

Apart from that it's common to work with Cubase and MIR at using MOL (Midi over LAN) or ipMIDI (I'm using this working with network) or in case of using Cubase 5 and MIR on one machine (possible too) you have to use loopbe30. For audio mastering it's depend of your audiocard or interface, you should have a look in the manual, setup is described there very clear too.  Hope that helps.

  • Many thanks Frank..I thought MIR dosn't work with cubase 5 in 1 computer! I own both ipmidi and loopbe30  I hope this setup dsecribed in the manual if not I hope you do[;)]

    All the best.

    Shakuman.

  •  I think it's very well explained there, 'cause I got it with the english manual too (in the days when only this was available) - and my english is quite poor. So you shouldn't have any trouble. btw the information behind MIR (concept and idea) in the manual are very interesting and to use the whole features - specially the possibility of changing the output formats it's advisable to take a closer look in it. (Normaly I hate manuals like the most musicians, I think - but this one is sometimes exiting and written very personally.)

And shure, we are in a quite same setup, so if you have some special questions, will be a pleasure for me to help you. I'm not an expert, but using MIR everyday since half a year - so I'm quit familiar with it now. (For existential expert question in my experience you get mostly very quick answer from the moderators of this forum). And have had some troubles at the first time, but it's forgotten and long time ago. Enjoy your new baby - I love it!

  • Many thanks to the fellow users who were giving a helping hand - especially Frank a.k.a. Doubleattack! [Y]

Not much that I could add to all the given info. Shakuman, I tried to explain the possible setups as throughly  as possible in the manual. If you still run into any issues, don't hesitate to contact us - either here in the forum, or with an e-mail sent to VSL's support team. MIR is suggesting a new and very different approach to the virtual realisation of orchestral music, but up to now, we were able to sort out most (if not all) of the initial problems people were facing. :-)

    Kind regards,

     My pleasure!

But it's not unselfish. I'm quite happy, that more and more people are deciding for MIR. That make shure you will pursue the development of this great tool further. In this way the "teething  troubles" will go away faster. (First time I wasn't shure about, 'cause the very good idea request very good computers too. And that's a bit against a generally using of the common run of mankind.)

    Kind regards

    Frank

  • Many thanks Dietz and Frank..I prefer to use 1 computer instead of 2 but I force problem to get the sound when I open cubase 5 and MIR I am using rme HDSP 9632 sound card, do I need 2 sound cards ? really I am a little confuse with the manual..I hope if you explain more deeper in how MIR works with cubase 5 in 1 computer especially the sound card and Loopbe30 setup in cubase and MIR..BTW Frank, MIR is not my new baby it's now 1 year and 3 months old and I am still using it as a standalone! I hope I can get help to run it with cubase 5 it's really an amazing impulse.

    All the best.

    Shakuman.

  •  OK, a few things:

    1. Make sure that you don't have "release driver etc. etc" in Cubase checked.
    2. Make sure that you have used the loopback facility of Total Mix to route the audio back into Cubase
    3. Make sure that you have set up MIR as an External Instrument in VST connections, so that all you have to is load it in the VSTi rack

  • ... and 4: Please make sure that Cubase and MIR don't try to access the same physical audio outputs of the audio interface. Disconnect at least one stereo-pair in Cubase's VST Connections window and use these outputs for MIR.
