  • HS + VEpro midi timing issues...please help

HS + VE pro-major timing issues...

    Hi all,

    My HS rig is a PC (24 gig , 4ssd's. Windows 7 pro, I7 quad)/

Im running 4 VE Pros into a MAC running Logic. Im getting great voice counts. No CPU issues at all. No crackles.

VE Pro in Logic is set to "1 buffer" and LOgic buffer is set to 256.

Here is the deal. The midi timing is all over the place. I f I run a loop for a while the solid eight note Legatos start drifting all over the place and the midi timing does NOT stay consistent.

Are there tweeks I have to perform to my new PC (windows 7) that I am not aware of?

    I need help here.

    thanx,

    best,
    SvK

  •  OK, so I assume you've done he usual things, including setting the process buffer to medium?

Is it the same when the VE Pro buffer is set to none?

Do you get the same issue with any other sample player?

Do you get the same issue when you run HS locally?

  • I'm having similar issues, most prominently with EWQL Pianos (also using Play).

It doesn't seem to matter what engine level I use in Play or the VEP buffer (from None to 4x), the piano notes seem to be coming almost at random. Even soloed, so that it's the only instrument playing, the problem occurs. I'm going to move the ilok to the host machine and make sure it's not an issue with the Cubase project, and will report back.

  • same here,

did you find a solution for this ?

Midi timing is all over the place, small drop outs.  Even when using no CPU, large buffer etc...

And yes, gigibit connection, multicore on kontakt is off, VEPRO load is spread over several instances with  threads divided over the instances, etc...  Tried every thing I found over several forums....

    Mac Quad core Protools 10

slave 1 PC intel quadCPU Q9550@2,83Ghz

    slave 2 PC intel i7 3960X hexacore @ 4 Ghz  SDD drives

  •  In order to resolve the timing issues with Play, I had to lower the buffer on my soundcard as low as possible. Bouncing the files at 2048 would result in very sloppy, random timing, while dropping to 256 or lower, and the timing problems disappeared. I've only ever had these issues with Play, so I bounce those tracks separately, at the lowest settings, and then everything returns to normal.

I have not had similar issues with Kontakt.
