  • Elicenser Error

New User so apologies if answer is blatantly obvious :) I'm trying to open Vienna Instruments (standalone and as VSTi) and I'm getting an Elicenser Error- "Cannot initiate elicenser. Either eL is not installed or dongle is not inserted." However when I open VE Pro I do not get this message. Can anyone help?

    Welcome Louise [:)],

Please make sure that you are using the latest eLCC software
and ALL the latest VSL software.

We have updated the copy protection, so all parts (protection software and the protected software) need to be updated! After this, please restart your computer, and everything should work just fine!

I have checked your registered products and the respective permanent licenses have all been downloaded to your eLicenser Key, so everything looks fine from our side.

    Hope that helps,

    Paul

  • Yes, that did the trick- I re-installed the elicenser software. Thanks :)

  • Dear Paul, I have the same problem as mentioned above. I have just registered the viennakey, I have downloaded the latest version of eLCC, but I don't know what software I should download from this page: http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/428/1093.vsl I bought the special edition and I try to run it on a windows 7 64 bit computer. Best regards, Hisko Hulsing Edit: Problem solved. I had only read the quickstart Guide, and therefor missed one step in the installation. I only registered the viennakey, but not the vienna symphonic. Therefor I didn't receive an activation code.

  • I think there is some BIG problem. Everything I have has also ceased functioning with an eLicenser error. I just installed the latest eLicenser control, and it's no go. AND I have a huge deadline!!!!

We REALLY need to have some advanced warning when there's some ticking time bomb that's going to go off and leave us dead in the water. This is completely unacceptable.

  • After a bunch of downloading and restarting, now I'm getting a message about a problem with a VSL "M6" library.

Total meltdown. Can't get Ensemble Pro to start. Big deadline. Everything was fine yesterday, and I made no software changes.

  • OK, I think I may be up again (won't know until my templates fully load). Had to update all my VSL applications on all computers, new eLicenser control and eLicenser library info. Restart Logic in 32 bit. Lots of restarting computers.

    Talk about excitement!

  • This protection is really a huge problem. Right now, my Mac accepts the key but my PC doesn't. And yes I have downloaded the latest elicenser version. The PC states some database format problem and recommends downloading the latest version... I did that and I installed it - not working. Repairing is not working, either. Nearly every time you bring an update of ensemble pro we have to reinstall the apparently not always working elicenser. I bought ensemble pro immediately when it came out and the first thing I had to do to be able to use it on OSX at all was downloading a beta version (!) of the elicenser software. This can't be, sorry. I am not sure who is to blame for this - probably Steinberg. But it would be a good policy if you would inform your customers on a regular basis by Email about new versions of the protection software - or updates of your software. And I am sure you can manage it to place a simple link on your update pages to the right elicenser verison. This can't be too difficult. By the way, I use iLok and Codemeter, too. I never encountered any problem at all with these. I understand your need for protection. But maybe you should consider a better working protection system.

  •  I too did have some problems with the eLicenser.
The error-message from the first post popped up, even when I did have (freshly) installed the latest version. But I only had trouble with the key/dongle when activating my download instruments. I removed the dongle, inserted it again, in the eLicenser control I could, after a few tries with removing and inserting the dongle, activate.

No problems with the VSL apps though.
