  • VSL Packages

I've been studying the various packages available and it looks like The Cube is best deal. Option 1: SE and SE Plus, and purchase the Extended versions. About $2,000. I would also want the Percussion so another $400. These would total about 180 GB of samples (130 compressed) Option 2: Purchase the Cube at $3,200. 550 GB of samples. I assume a large portion of the 550 GB would not be available until you purchase the full version. Do I have this figured right?

  • Hi commalot,

I'm sorry - I think you are wrong.

    1) Prices

I don't see the prices in USD. But SE and SE Plus Bundle is €1.550. So that should be fine. The percussion dvds are €740 (standard + extended). But you get a small discount of €25 if you first purchased the SE Bundle. So that sums up to €2.265.

The Cube is €5.980 (standard + extended). So there is a larger price difference than you thought.

    2) Value

    Don't count GBs or samples.

The value for you depends so much more on the music you are writing or producing.

I think the special edition bundle is a great starting point. You get the most important articulations for a lot of instruments. I don't need more articulations for my music in 99% of the time and I have more instruments to choose from. Don't forget the Cube doesn't give you the saxophones or the appassionata strings. So in my case I guess I would pay more for the bundles than for the cube.

But if you are really into classical orchestral music the cube might be a better value for you.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Sabine

  • Hi,if you really want to know about VSL instruments, like what Paul suggested in the other post, the best way is to try the exploration kit from best service. I have cube, but I still need to add special wind and brass, appasionata strings, ensemble pro, instrument pro, vienna suite and now dimenssion brass. Sabine is right,it depends on what you really need. hope this help

Thanks for the replies. After taking a closer look I'm sure it would be the same for me 99% of the time. I will be purchasing more of the percussion samples however.
