  • 'Ve Pro Server' and 'Standalone over MOL' at the same time

    Hi,

    VePro 4 9753, slave computer is Win7 / 64 bit , main computer Mac G5 PPC, Logic 7.

Could I use several instances of ve pro server AND the standalone

version on the slave at the same time, when midi to the standalone version goes via Midi over Lan?

Or will this lead to problems on the ethernet connection with midi transmisson of ve pro?

(Background: When I have kontakt 4 with electri6ity hosted by VePro server, Logic (7) cannot

save the song with the plugin data... error "not enough memory". So I have to play larger Kontakt 4

libraries inside the standalone version at the moment.)

    Matthias

  • I did this on my Mac Pro Slave. I had 2 servers (32 and 64) as well as a 64 bit standalone VEP using MoL. I occasionally get a dropout every few hours.. but i'm not sure if it has to do with this LAN situation.. could be something else. Hope it works! ~J

  • I run 3 PC servers all in VSL server mode but use MOL to reduce the processor hit on the Mac. No problems.

  •  Why not just save the plugin data as a Metaframe in VEP?

    Hi Bill,

of course saving as metaframe is an option, I do it anyway for security reasons.

But I then have to manually connect several VEpro plugins from logic to the slave, each time

I load the song. This makes it also necessary to remember which server instance on the slave

has to be connected to which plugin in the logic song. I find this very uncomfortable.

And all this probably two weeks or months later, when loading the song again and having worked with

    different projects.

Isn't the essence of the whole idea of VE Pro (in the server version) to do all this

    automatically ?

If I reload a metaframe manually on the slave, it's much easier to have the midi connections

already up and running, without the need to configure or reconnect s.th.

I have a soundcard working in the slave anyway, so rerouting audio this way is not a problem.

    Do I oversee something?

this problem seems to be solved with VEP 5.

Thanks alot, you made my day!
