  • VE Pro Set-up for midi only on slave

I have VE Pro on a Slave VisionDaw PC. I don't need to route any audio back to my main DAW as the Slave's Sound Card outputs via ADAT to my Digital mixer.

So I only need VE Pro to host multiple instances of Play, Kontakt etc, to be triggered by midi either in Pro Tools 10 or Logic 9 on my main computer.

    Thanks for the advice

    Paul

  • In your prefs you should be able to add whatever audio card (or routing software) you are using to input your midi. Just check the boxes, and you will see them added to your available MIDI ports in VEP. You might need to restart VEP, but it should be a simple process. I am using MOLcP3 to trigger my VEP machines, and streaming into my Pro Tools mixer. Works great!

  • Thanks!

I have MOLCp3 too. What do I load for VE Pro. Just the standalone application?

  • On a project where on my VisionDaw Slave I would love to be able to use Symphobia and EW Play.

My Slave is on Windows Vista 64 bit (SP1)

When I rey and add an instrument plug in it says none are available. Scanning for the VST folder does nothing and when I search for the folder it does not show any, even though they are there.

What should I be loading on the Slave to only use it as a host, and triggered by MOL3CP?

  • Gosh...I have spent so much time on this.

I cannot get Play to show up in Ve Pro on my VisionDaw Slave PC running Windows Vista 64 bit with 12 gig of RAM.

I was able to direct VE Pro to Kontakt 4, which is working fine, but  Play is nowhere to be found.

    There are all sorts of confusing VST, Steinberg, East West Plugins folders, and the only  thing I can find with play plugins is located at;

Program Data>East West>playgui folder. There are lots of .dll files there including playgui.dll. But if I direct VE Pro to this folder it says it is empty and nothing is found.

I tried installing the VST folder from the latest Play Installer several times. It does not give you a choice of where to put it.

    Grr....!!

  • Hi Paul ,

please check the SO Forum , I've posted there a link for you that might solve your issue.

    I'm not 100% sure , but  give it a try ...

  • Reading all of the posts about the complicated routing required when using Logic, I am wondering if I have something set up incorrectly.

Logic Pro 9 is on my Main DAW (Mac Pro/Lion)

VE Pro 5 (Latest Build) is on my VisionDaw Slave (Vista 64) and I have 1 Play instance assigned to 16 channels of Midi through MOLCP, and this works fine.

I also have an instance of Kontakt 4 assigned to another 16 channels of Midi of MOLCP, but I do not seem to be able to get them independent of the 16 Midi channels assigned to Play. Do I need this Logic environment template that people are talking about to do this?

  • Hello dubaifox,

Right now, you are using VE PRO 5 as a stand-alone instance in combination with MoLCP, which means that all ports are handled by MoLCP.

The Logic environment, which is currently being improved, is helpful if you are using the network functionality of VE PRO 5.

    Best,
