  • Installing new SE files

I deleted my SE and SE Plus (standard+extended) files from my computer with the intention of replacing them with the newly reorganized files, but when I try to install the files available in my User Area (for example, "SE_Vol-1_Brass_PLUS_v01"), I get the message, "The following licneses are needed to install this package: SE Brass Plus Basic." I have a feeling this has something to do with trying to install the "sections" rather than the "collections" for which I have licenses, but there were no other files available in my User Area. Am I missing something?

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

please make sure that you´re using the latest eLCC and the latest VSL Software, so that all licenses are recognized correctly!

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for the fast reply. That was indeed the issue. It seems to be installing properly now. Sorry for clogging the forum with such a boneheaded problem.

  • Hi Brian,

No problem. This answer solves 80% of all problems, also with VSL veterans [;)]

  • Hi,

is there a reason to install the new files? New content or just newly organized?

    Cheers,

    Sabine

  • I think the content is the same, but the new files seem to be a bit smaller. The DVD versions of the SE and SE Plus (standard + extended) took up 79.2 GB of space, whereas Volumes 1, 1+, 2 and 2+ just take up 61.5 GB. Also, since the files are separated into many sections, it'll be nice to be able to delete those that I don't need.

  • Hi,

The content is exactly the same, with the Library Updates and Bugfixes already applied to the downloads (made sense).

But you must have missed one download file, because the size is the same.

  • I'm actually going by the numbers listed on the website (under Products->Special Editions). It's hard to know which ones are accurate:

The total of the "SE Collections" for Volumes 1, 1+, 2, and 2+ comes to 61.6 GB.

The total of the "SE Bundles" for Volumes 1 and 2 comes to 41.2 GB.

The total of the 14 "SE Sections" for Volumes 1 and 2 comes to 42.1 GB.

The system requirements on the SE and SE Plus DVD boxes were 60+31=91 GB.

The actual total for the SE and SE Plus DVD folders was 79.2 GB.

It doesn't make too much of a difference to me, but it will be interesting to see which of these numbers is closest when the downloads are complete.

  • I'm still confused.  I bought SE and SE+ standard a few months ago.  In the user area I see files available for me to download under Special Edition Vol. 1 and Special Edition Vol. 1 PLUS (seperate download per instrument family).  However the sizes are very small.  So what are these and is this something I need to download to update my "old" SE/SE+ libaries?

After downloading and installing all of the new files, it turns out that the total for the 16 SE folders (Volumes 1 and 2) is 74.2 GB. So while it's not too far off the total for the DVD folders (79.2 GB), it does indeed seem that the files slightly differ in size for whatever reason. In any case, it's a great convenience to be able to pick and choose which sections I'd like to leave on my hard drive. Thanks!
