  • Cloning a VE Pro Rig

I need to clone my VE PRo based rig so I can share sequence files across the two rigs. The goal is I should be able to create identical VE Pro preserved instances on both rigs and when I pull up a sequence file on Rig B that is created on Rig A, the sequencer will connect to the VE Pro instances on Rig B. To assure that this happens do I need to make sure that the VE Pro machines in Rig B have the same name and or IP address as RIg A? I want to avoid having to reconnect every time I move a sequence file from one rig to another. Is there any "Alias" functionality I can use to point the VE Pro plugin to the right preserved instance on the right machine?

  • I don't see any relevance to the IP address. "...to point the VE Pro plugin to the right preserved instance"; your sequencer connects to what you have up and preserved [on the slave or local host] per se. unless there is some confusion owing to routing, I think you have an imaginary problem.

I would recommend decoupling the sequencer project from the VEP frames if you aren't already. It sounds like you may have them coupled by your concern with the relevance of 'sequence files', which means your sequencer is charged with [recalling &] loading VEP. if 'the rigs' are separate setups I can't imagine any problem of connecting to the right metaframe either way. But your life will be simpler decoupling. And decoupling as soon as connected, since now [VEP5] the sequencer will load what its last connection was per the last save, if coupled during any save.
