  • Jazz Drums update... what the hell is going on?!?!

So i updated to the new Jazz Drumset files.

Nothing works. When i load a project, half the channels don't even have a midi channel assignable to it. The other half do, but i get no sound.

So i tried loading a General midi set. I get two channels up, but no sound..... Am i missing something? or did this get changed to an unnecessarily complicated set-up?

I've been working with this for an hour now and cant get a single sound, unless i load the matrices with pre-programmed sequences... which is nice, but not what i need from this... and not how JD used to work.

Yes i updated to the most recent VI and VE versions....

Why cant i just load a full drumkit and play the notes myself??!?!? WHAT AM I MISSING?!?!?

  • Hello Michael!

If you have updated to the the new VI/VE, I recommend loading one of the VIFrames for VI5 that are included in the JazzDrumsProjects_v2 file. This file can be downloaded here:
    http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/498/1575/1610.htm

It may have various reasons if you don't get a sound. Please check the following things:
    - Is the folder with the Jazz Drums content added to your Directory Manager?
    - Do the instruments get MIDI signals? This can be seen on the LEDs on the very left in the instrument list.
    - Do the Vienna Instruments produce audio signals? This can also be seen in the instruments list of VE on the left. If they produce audio signals you have probably set the wrong audio port in your host sequencer or Vienna Ensemble standalone.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Andi
