  • VI 4.1/5.2, same parameters, different sound

Hi, I switched from VI 4.1 to 5.2 and applying it to old projects I got a very different sound. More specifically Orchestral Strings / Strings Violin / legato I get very different attack behaviour though VI gets the same parameters from my sequencer of choice. It looks like this issue might be connected to the repetition overlap release time slider. I get a similar but not equal result if I change the attack slider from 60 (VI4) to 30 (VI5) and raise the P.Rel to 80 (VI5). This example uses Velocity XF, value 20. Anyways, it looks like one has to change all parameters of a project just in order to get the same sound. That is why I have now two versions of Vienna Instruments. One for old projects and one for new projects. A single solution for everything would have been better. Best regards, Paul.

  • I kinda noticed a difference too. I opened an old, not-so-fine-tuned project and actually thought that it sounded better right off the bat, just because of the new VIs it seems. Perhaps these differences in parameter tuning helped improved the legato or quasi-legato passages in my case... can't say for sure, since I haven't pushed further the experiment.
