  • Solo Strings Single Instruments?

Hello everyone. I've found that VSL's single instruments (flutes, drums, horns, etc.) are fantastic options for those who don't want to spend on every single instrument in a package, but there are no single string instruments. Perhaps this is because the string sections that VSL offers are its flagship products, but there are very few dry and realistic solo violin samples available on the market. Is there any chance that VSL will consider splitting its solo strings library (or reating a new one) into ones that contain separate violin, viola, cello, and bass samples? What does everyone think about this? Is it feasible? I'm looking forward to responses. Thanks. ~Toby

  • I'm still looking forward to responses.

  • Are you saying you only work in the key of G? Or only use certain articulations? Maybe the SE would work for you. The basic package is inexpensive and gives you the basics.

I can tell you though, buying any package from VSL is well worth the money, if you can afford it. I wouldn't consider the Library as an 'augment' if that's what you are thinking. If you need a particular sound for some project, look elsewhere. These aren't 'make a big splash' samples. They are executed how you execute them.

Anything you buy from VSL gives you full control over everything...no one else does that. Expensive? A bit. Worth it? Yes.

Asking for a single stringed instrument is like asking for pie crust. Minus the lard. The singles are well-thought-out. How could you, for example, take a violin and make lots of articulations and all the other things and sell it for cheap?

    You couldn't.

  • He's saying he'd like to be able to buy just the violin, as opposed to violin, viola, cello and bass.

  •  Yes, sorry, I see that now. I completely misunderstood the question when I read it last night. My apologies!
