    Hello,

Here is a small demo of the Bruch romanze for viola solo and orchestra.

    Bruch romanze

Comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

    Hope you enjoy,

    Martijn

  • The music performance sounds very good and expressive.  However you might have to add more acoustic space to the mix.  And then make the viola stand out within it.  It all sounds a bit melded together in a big mass.  So I'd say make the accompaniment a more reverberant, bigger sound, and then have the viola center stage with a clear but still somewhat more reverberant presence in the center.  That is a beautiful piece and thanks for putting it here!   I love hearing these classics.

    Hi William,

Thanks once more for taking the time to listen and comment. I have to agree with you that there is insufficient reverb tail in the mix, which is very notable in the opening phrases. So I added size as you suggested. Still I think there is much to gain in air, depth and clarity. Specifically the prominent woodwind parts remain somewhat underexposed.

    Romanze

    Thanks,

    Martijn

  • How many violins did you use?

2 sections as the score indicates?  Which is how many ?

Very nice job btw..  Thank you for making us aware, this is a masterpiece !

  • Hello dar,
It uses orchestral strings for all strings with 1st violins mixed with dimensions violins.
It is indeed a masterpiece. The composition. The way Bruch's arrangement balances  everything. There are simply no flaws and there is much that can be learned from this work.
    Thanks for listening,
     Martijn
