  • Sibelius and VI Pro Articulations not working correctly. Sibelius 6.2 and latest VI products, ...

I am getting the wrong articulation when using Vienna Special Edition Plus on Sibelius 6.2.

A second issue:  when I specify a trill (Tr in Expression Text) in Sibelius, to DO get a trill, but at the END of the trill and get a second sounding of the note on which I specified the trill. Example:  trill on C# proceeds normally, then, at the end of the note duration, I get a SECOND C#.

I checked out the Sound Set Project Website and followed suggestions there with no improvement ( among them, setting the Sibelius mixer to automatic).

    Help appreciated.  Steve

  • Hello Steve!

Please notice that the Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS sound sets only work correctly with the normal VI matrices loaded and not with the VI Pro matrices.

  • Why?

Just a bit more than a curiosity.

  • Hi Sergio!

The VI Pro matrices are structured differently than the VI matrices and therefore would need other switches. So it would be necessary to create an extra sound set just for the VI Pro matrices, which would make things only more confusing.

Of course all VI pro features can also be used with the normal VI matrices loaded.

  • Andi -

I have a related question regarding Sibelius 6 articulations.  In general, I am getting them to work fine with the saxophone single instrument download (I got the full library).  I am NOT using the Special Edition saxophone, and I am loading "VI Presets for Sibelius Wooddwins and Brass" from the Presents menu in VI Pro (latest version of everything).  I get "slap" and "fall" to work on the saxophone, but not "scoop" or "plop".  Any suggestions on how to get these working too?  I am using the keypad notation simples to invoke these articulations from the score.

  • Hello Steve!

I'm sorry to say that we didn't record scoops or plops. You can see a list of all included articulations of the Alto Saxophone that you have registered here:

  • Thanks Andi

Sorry to hear that VSL is plop-free!  Perhaps a quick update could cure the problem.

I did, quite by accident discover that one can imitate a scoop by using a short glissando on the note in question.  This creates an upward swoop.  The notation in Sibelius is wrong (wavy or straight line for glissando), but I believe one can hide notation on the score, and then the text "scoop" could be placed above the staff.
