A public preset configuration for the use of the Vienna Instruments
Special Edition (Volumes 1 + 2) with the Capella notation software
was recently published on the CapellaWiki:

    Capella and VSL Special Edition

including presets for the Soprano Saxophone (Standard) and the Vienna Jazz Drums (General MIDI).

It runs with Vienna Ensemble, with both the VI player and and the VI-PRO player (Windows 7).

  • Interesting.  I've never heard of it before. Are many people here using it?

Dorico, Notion, Sibelius, StudioOne, Cubase, Staffpad VE Pro, Synchon, VI, Kontakt Win11 x64, 64GB RAM, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, August Forster 190

A small update (V. 3.2) was added to the Special Edition preset configuration for Capella

    on the CapellaWiki:

    Capella and VSL Special Edition

It includes now a second preset of a clarinet available with the VI-PRO Player (following a discussion elswhere here in this forum).

This might be helpful during unisono passages of a score. Though this does not bring different samples it provides more preconfigured "liveliness" through different settings of delay and tuning.

@BILL: Hopefully, there will become more VSL users here with this configuration...

    Have much fun,

Another update (V. 3.5) was made on the Special Edition preset configuration for Capella,

    available on the CapellaWiki:

    Capella and VSL Special Edition

It includes now a complete configuration (preset) for the VSL FLÜGELHORN, usable with both the VI and VI-PRO Player via Vienna Ensemble, and via the VI player within the Capella memory space.

In addition, some smaller adaptations werde made (see version log in the configuration ZIP file, unfortunately still only in German).

Here is a demo recording for a double brass ensemble (2x 3 Flühelhorns + 1 Tenor Trombone):

Giovanni Gabrieli - 'Jam non dicam vos servos'

Played by Capella via Vienna Ensemble and VI-Pro Player, with reverb 'Konzerthaus Grosser Saal' of the Vienna Suite.

The dynamic symples are really great and contribute much to liveliness!

    Have much fun,
