Can I confirm who did the music that was previously done of the "Caucasian Sketches" by this composer with VSL?  I am going to finish the Procession of the Sardar and wish to present it with the other movements which I remember being very good.  Please reply to this thread....

William,

That was me! I'm glad you liked them, and I've been looking forward to hearing your rendition of Procession of the Sardar.

I only did the second and third movements. I'd like to do the first, but I think it would be a bit beyond my abilities.

O.K. - who did the first movement?  I can't remember but it was an excellent performance.  Or maybe I am hallucinating a memory and it was never done...  Confused

I actually don't remember ever hearing a VSL version of the first movement. I started with "In a Village" and then later did "In a Mosque", but I didn't think anyone did the "In a Mountain Pass" bit. If someone did, I'd love to hear it.

So someone has to do it!  Uh-oh...

I'm looking at the score now. It's tempting, but I think it might take me a year to do it. And even then, I'd probably spoil it...

No way would you spoil it.

Not to put any pressure on you...

However, Ippolitov-Ivanov may be doing so.  If you awaken in the middle of the night in a cold sweat with a strange Russian hovering over your bed, you will know why.

I was wondering who that was...
