Hey all,

I am using VE standard with dimensions strings and trying to setup an orchestral template for my strings. I'm using one multi-out instance of VE with 16 outs so far. Once everything is loaded, the routing seems perfectly fine, but it seems to be killing the performance of my rig. I'm running on a 2009 iMac 3.06 ghz duo with 12 gb ram. Is this a sign that its time for me to upgrade my computer or am I missing something? There have been a few times after I save my project where VE appears to stall and crash, and the project takes about 20 minutes to load all of the VSL dimensions string instruments I have going on, so its killing my productivity right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rhetoric1984,

I assume that you are loading the HUGE presets of Dimension Strings, which explains the long loading time...

Did you consider getting VI PRO and an SSD drive yet?

=> This way you can load up to 10 times more samples (using only a fraction of the available RAM, up to 1/10th).

=> Alternatively, you can load only the matrices you really need!

=> In VI PRO, there´s also the option to load only the articulations that are actually triggered (in VI PRO Preferences).

Also, if you are using Velocity Xfade, this will use a lot of performance, as every velocity is actually played back. If that´s the case, try to switch off Velocity Xfade and see what happens.

Best,

Paul
