  • Vienna Imperial not available as a preset

I hope this isn't a dumb question. I just added Vienna Imperial--how do I launch it? Is it a different process than with any other VI? If it were, I reckon that would be mentioned in the manual. It's not available as a preset (or in the Matrix or Patch columns) with the other keyboards in Vienna Instruments Pro. Am I missing something? It occurred to me that maybe it wasn't being seen by the Directory Manager, but that seems unlikely because in adding Imperial I had to move my entire VSL library to a larger hard drive, and I rescanned the entire directory including Imperial (after it had been fully installed) at the same time. Everything is working except for Imperial, so the program is clearly pointed at the right drive. What am I missing? Thanks, Clare

  • Vienna Imperial literally has it's own software engine.  This is the mistake you're making and don't worry others have too.  You are trying to launch a VI or VI PRO instance and then find it within that software.  This is wrong.  You need to load the actual Vienna Imperial Software.  So if you haven't done it, go to your user area and actually download and install the full Vienna Imperial Software package.

You don't list any specifications of operating system or DAW so I can't tell you where to find it.  But either way you should easily be able to go to your programs directory and see that you now have a Vienna Imperial.  For me on windows 7 I can see in all programs a seperate folder called Vienna Imperial.  When I go into Cubase and Studio One it's clearly right there near my VI PRO client.

  • Ah, yes. Thank you for your help. The manual is written from the perspective of a CD-ROM installation, in which case it would be obvious because there would be the software installer. It's less so with download installation, but still, duh. I now at least have the standalone working. I can't get it to launch in Sibelius, but I'll post my issue in the notation forum. Can't wait for the Steinberg/Sibelius thing to come out. Thanks again, and viva Detroit. Clare
