Vienna Ensemble 5.3 (Windows) build 13166 can't open old projects in Cubase
Hello, I just upgraded to the new VE 5,3 and everything worked fine with the installation on my Win7 machine with Cubase 5. But now when I open existing Cubase Projects containing Vienna instruments, Cubase can't load those instances. I get the error message "The plug-in 'Vienna Ensemble x64' could not be found for VST synth...." I can open new instances of VE 5.3, but these contain no instruments. (I don't know which version of VE I had before.) Help please!

Thanks for the quick the reply, but I believe that's exactly what I did... The software version in this thread's title is not the Pro version, right?

After I found out that system recovery points were disabled on my computer, I uninstalled this build and instead installed build 12844. With that all instances of VE seems to load VI with all articulations, but only one instance of VE gave audible sound, the others looked (gave signal on VU bars) as they work, but were quiet. Another project based on the same template couldn't be opened. I just tried a new install of build 13166 but now I can't open any Project containing VE/VI. Cubase hangs at loading certain VE-instances and it seems that VSTBridge is crashing.(I have other sound libraries as well in my template/Projects.) Will send a Cubase project to you then.

Update. Problem solved by installing jbridge. (How an update of VE could create irr-repairable problems with Cubase infamous vstbridge beats me.)
Still haven't got any response from the VSL support besides a ticket number. It still would be interresting to know if my template is containing something odd.

Hello coelin blue,
Sorry about that delay, we tried to find out what´s going on, and then your support case got lost in a loop.
However, everything opened fine in all Cubase versions from 5.5 to 7.5 (with activated bit-bridge) on our computers (we don´t have Cubase 5 available, and your project showed as a Cubase 5.5.3 project).
I can remember that the bit-bridge in Cubase 5.5 was still quite buggy (this actually become reliable with Cubase 7 for me), so that should be the cause of these troubles. IIRC, opening older projects that made use of the internal bit-bridge were not opening correctly sometimes... using jbridge, you are bypassing this problem.
jbridge is definitely not necessary anymore with Cubase 7.5, the latest version, as the bit-bridge works fine.
Best,
Paul
