    Hello,

My last work before the new year. The first movement of the concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra.

Hope you enjoy. Feedback as always welcome.

    Thanks & best regards,

    Martijn.

    Dear community,

As follow up to my previous post, please find my initial version of the 2nd movement of the bassoon concerto k.191 and feel free to comment.

While the first movement showcases the (somewhat unsuspected) agility and range of the bassoon supported by a lively string arrangement, (supposedly and if indeed written for an amateur bassoon player, this she surely must have been a great virtuoso) the second movement is an early Mozart adagio. So, while not in the 400 600 range...

For technicalities I am affraid in its current form it's just a static mix so I hope the instruments are exposed and offer sufficiently room. I also somewhat hope to get away with the strings which are supposed to be played con sordino. Room is teldex.

As said, feedback welcome. (Third movement on its way.)

    Sincerely,

    Martijn

  • Hi Martijn,

What a wonderful job you did. Both the parts are really enjoyable and very well set. This is most extraordinary music for such a lovely instrument and you rendered honour to it. Your interpretation stands out and sounds so delicately. Congratulations!

    Max

  • What a huge work! Especially I like the warm Solo-Basson and the winds. I am curious how your third Movement will sound like. The Teldex seem to me a good choice.

    Hi Martijn,

This has always been one of my favourite pieces of music.

You have done a great job in reproducing it here. I can't speak to the specifics of the technical stuff,...but hey, when I hear this and cannot tell it is midi(?), VST(?),.sequenced(?), there's no need to now is there!! 😊
