  • Velocity curve question

    Hi,

I was experimenting with the velocity curves which resulted in a question:

Are the sampled recordings compressed (with a compressor) and/or normalized? Because if I set the velocity curve to 0 dB 0-127 the volume is quite equal on all velocities (like expected). The odd thing is though that the different velocities accually should have a natural velocity curve.

Is it correct that the natural velocity curve from the recordings where removed by normalization/compression and then added again in Vienna Instruments? Is the default velocity curve taken from the original recordings?

My ambition with this is to get the most realistic velocity curve for my setup.

    Hi Martin

The midi velocity 0-127 can have influence on the volume in VI.

More, you can adjust how much influence it should have:

Setting the Dynamic with Samples (Velocity-Curve/Dynamic Range)

Adjust it to your taste and save the VI-management together with all other settings within your DAW for a next time.

    (As an example "Solo Violin")

    Happy Music
