  • VEPro and 10.10.5

Hello, I just upgraded my master computer, a Mac Pro and my slave Mac mini to Yosemite 10.10.5. I also installed the most recent versions of VEPro5: 5.4.13741 on both. Now when I try and connect to the slave from Sibelius, it does not recognize it. There are no instances available. Before I upgraded all the software I simply plugged and played via the Ethernet cable...it just worked. Am I missing something? Do I need to make specific settings in the network preferences or should I simply return to older OS's? Before my master computer was on 10.8.6 and the slave was on a version of Mavericks... Maybe 10.9.4. Should I try an older version of VEPro? Anyone else having issues with 10.10.5 and the most recent VEPro? Thank you in advance! Andy

  • No, no problem here.

  • Thank you for that feedback.  I have solved the issue, which was of course not a VSL software problem.  My main computer was failing to connect via the ethernet ports to the other slave computers.  In the network settings of the system preferences, I changed the 'Configure IPv4' setting to 'manually' instead of DCHP.  I did the same on my slave computers and input fairly random IP addresses.  (My computers connect to the internet via wi-fi so I do not use the ethernet ports for the internet) and now my slave computers get recognized.  In trying to figure this out I went back to a back-up of my old system 10.8.5 (not 10.8.6 as noted in my first post) and noticed that the Ethernet automatically 'connected' using DCHP, but with Yosemite, this did not happen and that was the problem.

As an aside I actually tried to install Yosemite a year ago but my Mac Pro (early 2009) just would not take the new OS.  In the end I removed my old Powercore PCIe card and that solved that issue.  Needlesstosay I am happy to finally get onto Yosemite.  I mention this just in case other people experience similar problems.

    Best,  Andy
