Hello. I posted this in the MAS plugin thread, but it didn't seem to get any notice, so I'll try giving it a new topic here. I have found a problem with offline bouncing that is consistent with every test I've run. When using a single instance of VEP (MAS version) hosted in DP 9, I have 24 pairs of stereo audio coming in to AUX channels. My VEP template has one instance with several Kontakt and Omnisphere plugins, each going to a seperate output pair. When using offline bouncing in DP, only outputs 1 & 2 will bounce on the grid. Every other pair is consistently late and behind the grid. Normal playback is fine, and spot on with a click, but for printing stems, this timing error is a big problem for me.
This is a screenshot of a simple test I ran. I have one midi track in DP playing quarter note clicks through a VEP hosted Kontakt plugin. When the plugin is set to use outputs 1&2, it bounces offline and can be re-imported to see the click right on the grid. If I change the Kontakt plugin to use outputs 17 & 18 (or any other random pair), it can be reimported and shows a latency of 1514 samples.
So, I can't figure out a way around this, unless I use a single output pair from VEP, but that doesn't help much for mixing in DP. Does anyone here have any ideas?
Thanks!
Greg

Hi Greg,
May I ask how many buffers of latency the VE Pro plug-in is set to and what the buffer size of your audio card is set to?

Hello Karel. My buffer is set to 520 in Digital Performer. I have the plugin running at 3 Buffers. That seems to be the best setting for my large template. when playing back a cue. I've run the click offline bounce test using 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 buffers in the plugin. Even at 0, there is still some lag in all outputs (except 1 & 2) behind where the offline bounce is using Outputs 1 & 2. It's like DP does not recognize the latency and compensate for it when using any output other than 1 & 2, regardless of the buffer settings.

Hi Tripi,
Please make sure that you have deactivated Pre-Gen Mode in the Audio Plug-In real-time preferences in DP (set it to "Virtual Instruments in Real-time" or "All plug-ins in Real-time", depending on the DP version you are using, instead!)
Does that help?

Thank you Paul, but I already have those options selected. I've never used Pre-gen mode with VEP. Any other ideas?

Thank you for offering to help. I'll try to put together an example of what is happening and email it.

For anyone interested, Vienna support confirmed this bug, and confirmed that it is a DP issue (not an issue with VEP).
