  • [SOLVED] VSL Presets Not Showing Up

    Hi all,

I recently had to re-load my Libraries and have not been able to see any presets in the browser area. I am able to see matrixes and patches and am able to load a matrix but the presets do not appear. I have run the Directory Manager and removed all folders and then re-loading them but still no presets. Thank you for any help or suggestions.

  • Same thing is happening to me.  Been reloading everything to no success.  Have the latest versions installed.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    This is the safety procedure:

Open the Directory Manager (find it in "Applications" (OS X) or "All Programs" (Win) => then "Vienna Instruments").

Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.

More information about how the Directory Manager works can be found in the video "How to use the Directory Manager".

If this doesn´t work, it could be

    - that you are pointing to the INSTALLATION files (*.cab files)

    - that your installed data (*.dat files) has been corrupted.

    - that your harddrive failed.

Of course it´s always an option to re-download your sample content and install it once again.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul and thank you for your response.

I am running OSX 10.9.5 on an iMac and have the most recent versions of Vienna Instruments, Directory Manager and my three libraries. I have removed all folders in the Directory Manager and then dragged the individual library folders containing their respective .dat files back to Directory Manager. In the browser area I can see matrixes and patches and also one preset in my bass clarinet library but absolutely no other presets show up. I recently downloaded the newest versions of the libraries so I would be surprised if they were corrupted and I have not experienced any other odd behavior in many other programs or VSTs to indicate a herd drive failure. So strange . . .

  • Hi Paul,

I just upgraded to El Capitan on Mac and I'm now having problems that weren't there before.

I find that all the VI PRO 2 presets for certain instruments won't load.

I have removed all directories and re-added all drives and directories again (in Directory Manager).

I have run DiskWarrior and Disk Utility on my VSL drives and they are all fine. However, it seems that only the instruments from one of my 3 drives give me a problem.

The Level 1 and Level 2 presets for the problematic instruments do still work - it's only the VI PRO 2 sets that give me an "error loading xxx" message.

    Do I need to re-install?

    Thanks in advance - Colin

  • Hello Borealis,

Did you make sure that your sample content is actually installed (*.dat files)?

Your downloaded installation files (*.cab files, highly compressed) have to be installed (=extracted) to become the actual sample content.

In the installation process, the location of this sample content is added to your Directory Manager automatically.

Installation should start automatically if you have not turned off the "Auto-Install" Option in the Download Manager ("on" by default).

If the sample content is not installed yet, simply click "INSTALL" in the Download Manager!

    Paul

  • Hi Colin,

Wow, you´re high-jacking a thread from another user in the forum?

As always, please send screenshots and a description to support@vsl.co.at, I´ll take a look. Or post those screenshots here, best in a separate thread.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Sorry about the thread heist!!

I thought it was relevant to post in this thread about presets not showing up.

    I'll email support as suggested.

  • Hello again Paul,

Yes, the sample content is actually installed. It occurs to me that perhaps there are no factory presets for my other two libraries: Prepared Piano and Exotic Percussion . . .

    Thans for your help anyway.

    Borealis

  • Hi Borealis,

You are right, some smaller collections only have matrices and patches.
