  • VEPro instance Preserved Sibelius lost connection

In Sibelius I've connected to a VE PRO instance that is preserved. I also assigned different active devices in the sibelius setup window as VE Pro Event inputs to the same VE PRO instance for Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Keys and strings. I saved this configuration in Sibelius.

The next day I load the project as metaframe in VEPRO server. All instruments load. But when I start Sibelius and I want to play the music based on the specific configuration there's no sound. When I look in the setup of Sibelius I see that the connection with the VEPRO instance is lost. So I have to reassign again the connection with the VEPRO instance and also reassign all the event plugins to the instance again.

I thought the configuration in Sibelius should do this automatically as soon as I opened the Sibelius file

  • Hello frienell_3530!

The Sibelius playback configuration gets loaded in the status you have saved it. If you have saved it with unconnected VE Pro instances, it gets loaded this way, even if you have saved your Sibelius project later when the VE Pro instances were connected. I strongly recommend always saving the Sibelius playback configuration after making changes of any kind in any loaded instrument.

If that wasn't the reason for your problem, could it be that you have also decoupled your VE Pro project? This way the VE Pro project doesn't get saved with the Sibelius playback configuration.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

Yes, I saved the playback configuration when everything was assigned to the VE Pro instance.

I even have made a a completely new playback configuration, added the VE Pro devices, assigned it to the VE Pro instance, saved it under another name. Saved the metaframe to be sure, saved the Sibelius file under another name,  Unfortunately without results.

I did not decouple my VE Pro project.

I have tried it now with VE PRO 6, loaded the VE Pro instance. Make a completely new file in Sibelius, reassignd it to the instance. Saved everything. Closed the Sibelius file. Open it again. The connection is still there. Close Sibelius, restart Sibelius, open the Sibelius file then the connection is lost.

    Kind regards,

    Frieda

  • Hello Frieda!

I can't reproduce such a problem here. If you want to, you can send your score and Sibelius playback configuration (xml file and files in the data folder) to support@vsl.co.at and we will take a look at them. Depending on your operating system, Sibelius playback configurations can be found in one of the following folders:

    Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Sibelius\Playback Configurations
    Mac: Users/username/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius/Playback Configurations

Under Mac OS X the Users/your username/Library folder is hidden by default. To get access, go to the folder Users/your username. Then choose Go/Go to folder and enter “Library”.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

I've made a playback configuration with 5 instances of VE Pro 6. Only yhe Woodwinds stay unconnected. I'll sent you the files.

I export a midifile from Sibelius and imported it in Logic, saved the file in Logic The same problem. occur The Woodwinds instance I have to reassign again.

    Kind regards Frieda
