  • [SOLVED] VEP6 64 - cannot create i/o buffers

Just upgraded to VEP 6 and when I open VEP first it gives an "audio engine error" ... "Could not start audio device ASIO: Yamaha Steinberg FW ASIO (Can't create i/o buffers)".  I have tried unchecking ASIO Guard in Cubase and the same result.

I have no problem with audio when using any other program without VEP: CuBase, Sibelius, YouTube, etc.  Also, when I was using VEP 5 64bit I had no problem.  My sound module is the Steinberg 816csx.  All the programs are the latest...ie. CuBase 8.5.2, Sibelius 8.4.0.96, etc..  My Computer is 32gb ram, windows 8.1 pro, quad core Intel i7 2.75 mhz.  Checked previous posts and the responses but couldn't find anything that matches.

    Hi Larry,

Why are you starting the standalone version?
Did you try with a different ASIO driver like ww.asio4all.com?

    Best,

  • Thank you for your response.  With VEP 5 my memory is that it automatically put both the standalone and server icons on the desktop.  When I downloaded the 6 upgrade no shortcut was put on the desktop...so, I went to my C drive/program files/...etc. and found the .exe file and created my own (for the 64 bit).

I didn't pay attention that it opened the standalone version.  But, your response made me remember reading somewhere to go to my start button/programs/....and there with the vienna ensemble pro were the two server versions with the standalone!  Everything should work fine now.  Again, thank you.

The ASIO issues seems to become more and more frequent lately? Is there a chance to investigate further, instead of just advising using another ASIO driver? I so want to use my Hammerfall DSP due to latency...

  • Paul?

  • Yes?

    There is always a chance.

Unfortunately there are also some priorities we have to follow, and these priorities depend a lot on how many users are affected.

This bug simply doesn´t make it to the top 10 list right now.

    Sorry.

    Best,
    Paul
