  • VEP 6 Demo - 30 days? Hardly...

So, as I got back from holiday I was looking forward to giving VEP 6 a test run.

I have VEP 5 and intend to update, but just wanted to see what the new improvements are.

Unfortuntely the '30 days demo' is incredibly misleading, and I'm rather disappointed, as what it doesn't say is 10 (or 20, I can't remember the exact number) application starts you actually get.

With both 64 and 32 bit Veps rebuilding their plug-in list, and me suffering a multitude of crashes and hangs (thanks iLok and Play!) whilst it rebuilds its VST blacklist and cache, I was actually left with about 4 or 5 appstarts.

I've barely had a chance to look at any new features this week as just loading an existing template took a while, and now I'm almost out of starts, despite me only being less than a week into my supposed 30-day demo trail period.

Come on VSL! Either offer a proper 30 day demo or don't bother at all

  • Hi jorisdeman,

I´m surprised about your posting, after you have ordered 12 demo licenses for our software products.

All our demo licenses work for 30 days/30 starts.

Once the 30 starts are used up, you can recharge them as often as you like by clicking "Maintenance" in the eLicenser Control Center (within 30 days).

    Best,
    Paul

Ehm? I ordered 2 demo licenses for VEP6, not 12..unless you're talking about 12 demo licenses in the past for your various software products, in which case, thanks for posting that on a public forum.

I wasn't aware of the restart/maintenance feature,so thanks for pointing that out. I'm having a rather crap (and warm day) in the studio,  and after one of my slaves required a restart I was surprised to find out the demo had seemingly expired, though as you point out, it hasn't.

I guess my surprise came from the fact that if I run a Steinberg demo for 30 days, it doesn't have any 'starts' requirements, so I couldn't understand why VEP did, and I don't recall reading anything about the 'starts' when i downloaded the demo.
    Anyway, thanks for your help.
