  • VEP6 Input bleed

I'm building a new template using VEP6 and when adding consecutive input channels from a Kontakt multi I get inexplicable bleed from one input into the next., regardless of routing. I've been able to correct this by removing and readding an input occasionally but haven't found a proper solution that allows me to sort this quickly.

Does anyone else have this issue and have you found a workaround?

    Thanks.

  • I'm demo'ing VEP6 now, and having the same problem. In my case, that odd issue almost begins from channel 6(kontakt's 6th stereo out : VEP'S 6th and 7th stereo input,  Kontakt's 7th stereo out : VEP's 8th and 9th input...)

and then if I enter the preference tab and comback to the console tab, the issue changes to begin from channel 8(kontakt's 8th : VEP's 8th and 9th input...) or 12(kontakt's 12th : VEP's 12th and 13th input...)                               my Kontakt version is 5.5.2(full kontakt).

I hope that would be fixed soon.

  • We are currently trying to reproduce this behaviour here in house - thanks for your patience!

    Best, Marnix

  • What OS are you on? My slave machine is currently running 10.8.5.

  • PC1 : VEP 6 / KONTAKT 5.5.2 AND 5.6 / WINDOWS10

    PC2 :VEP 6 / KONTAKT 5.5.2 AND 5.6 / WINDOWS10

    PC3 : VEP 5.4.14074 / KONTAKT 5.5.2 / WINDOWS10

    PC4 : VEP 5.4.14074 / KONTAKT 5.5.2 / WINDOWS10

All the 4 PCs are on Windows10, and all have the same problem, no exception.(the issue happens not only in VEP6, but VEP5) It probably seems to be concerned with Kontakt's latest version after 5.5.1(in my opinion).

Anyway,  I reported that to VSL's Service Center yesterday.

  • Today VEP 6.0.15318 build released and I immediately updated.... but the issue still remains unsolved.

There's no way to slove that problem yet. I'm constantly trying to find a way to use full 16 channel of Kontakt.

  • This is an issue with the Kontakt VST plugin in general. The plugin operates the same way within Cubase.

Kontakt remembers its channel configuration from previous instantiations, so creating a set of new output channels, then closing the application and reopening Kontakt - things will work as you expect.

The problem arises once you use different output configurations in Kontakt. Channel 11/12 are per default mono channels; both Cubase and VEPro will automatically convert these to stereo channels, causing the left channel to end up on one bus, the right channel on the next bus.

For this reason, NI supply some fixed output channel assignment versions of Kontakt, which don't have this problematic way of constantly reconfiguring the channels.

  • Thank You for helping me so kindly!

I realized the issue accurately from your help that it's not concerned with VEP.

Exactly the output batch system of Kontakt, is something problem. I always use the automatic- channel batch system, and also realized that all the 16 chaanels don't work as stereo channel automatically.

  • The best solution is probably this way :

    1. in Kontakt vst, press + button of "outputs" tab

    2. quantity : 16 / number of channels : 2.   standcard / host output : kt.st.1[1] <- set the first output

ascending output assignment : check /  delete existing channels before creating new ones : check

make this your default configuration : also check.

then close the project and re-open, I can perfectly use all 16 stereo outputs.
