  • Thomas: Flute / Electric Guitar Band

One of the things I like about sampled instruments is that it lets me play "What If?"  I was working on a string quartet heavily based on a Vivadli style.  Just for fun, I changed the key and used the SE Electric guitar.  I think it is interesting.  But then, you might think it an abomination!

  • The more I listened to it, the more I disliked the sound of the lead guitar.  So did a "Jethro Tull" re-arrangement.  I replaced the lead guitar with a flute and added a simple drum beat.  I like iit better now!

The tracks are prefaced "Jethro Dull."

    Hi Mark,

this is for sure an interesting experiment, it's not an abomination. It makes me wonder if you perhaps have ever heard of these countrymen of mine: Rhapsody.

Thanks for sharing. By the way, i am enjoying your piano works.

    Best regards

    Francesco

  • Thank you for your comment on my piano music!

Yes, I am familar with the older recordings of Raphosdy of Fire.  I took online guitar lessons for a couple of years from Tom Hess which I believe is a member of the band now.  I still have fond memories of that time, but finances ended it.

  • You are very welcome, Mark!

You are saying 'guitar lessons with Tom Hess', aren't you? This is definitely beyond the gates of infin.....errr beyond my wildest dreams! Super cool! I bet it was very good.

Just letting you know i prefer their first recordings....when they just were Rhapsody (with no fire whatsoever). I should tell you: we have a great band in here called NanowaR (nano is italian for dwarf) and they make metal parody.... after Rhapsody renamed 'of fire', NanowaR renamed 'of steel'. Sorry for the OT, i had to tell you since it's one of the funniest things in metal history.

    Keep up the good work.

    Sincerely

    Francesco

It is not hard to get lessons with Tom Hess.  He takes students of all levels and styles, but he expects that you be commited to the instrument.  Just google "Tom Hess."

I really do not think that you hijacked the thread.  It was started as a a joke post to begin with.

        Be well,

    Mark
