  • 32-bit VST Plugin In V Ensemble Pro 6 64bit

    Greetings All,

I am running Ensemble Pro 6 64-bit on the same machine as my host, on a Windows 10 (64-bit) machine.

I have two 32-bit VST plugins that were discontinued some years ago, but have value in my set-up. All other VST instruments and plugins are of course 64bit.

I understand that Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 64-bit can host both 32-bit and 64-bit VST Instruments side by side, but I need guidance. What are the best strategies to adopt please?

  • Welcome Mike,

Simply open a 64 bit VE PRO Server and a 32 bit VE PRO Server (they work side by side) and load your plug-ins accordingly.  Pretty straight forward.

    Best,
    Paul

Hello Paul, thank you for your welcome.

I gather from your reply there isn't actually a 32bit to 64bit bridge. In which case, running both versions of the Server together as you suggest must surely have a CPU/Ram hit.

I will try them and report my findings here. In the meantime, many grateful thanks, Paul.

    Mike.

  • Hi Mike,

That´s correct, we avoided the complications of a bridge and instead stick to the 32 bit Server, which has a RAM limit of about 3 GB (like all 32 bit applications).

    Best,
    Paul

    Hello again Paul,

Does running the 32bit server and 64bit server together only require Ensemble Pro 64bit in my DAW, to access my 32bit and 64bit instruments/plugs together?
Or, must I run 32bit and 64bit versions of Ensemble as well as the two servers, please?

    With Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hello Mike,

The VE PRO plug-in that connects to the server is the same for VE PRO 32 bit and 64 bit.

    Best,
    Paul

    Hello Paul,

To clarify then, when I load the 32bit and 64bit servers together, my third-party 32bit and 64bit plugin's are available in VE Pro 64 bit. I do not need to be running VE Pro 6 in 32bit mode.

    Is that correct?

  • Hi Mike,

No. Your 32 bit plug-ins will be available in the 32 bit VE PRO Server, your 64 bit plug-ins will be available in the 64 bit VE PRO Server.

Your VE PRO PLUG-IN in your sequencer connects to both VE PRO Servers.

    Best,
    Paul
