  • VEP Feature request: Surround support for non-surround aware DAWs

This is long shot, but I'm going to aim and fire this off anyway...

For DAWs that aren't surround aware (in my case, Presonus Studio One, but I suspect ProTools, FL Studio, Ableton Live, Bitwig... all would apply here as well) could there be a mode/option for the surround audio output pin configuration be setup to stream out to multiple stereo pairs?

    Example:

    Output mode: 5.1 Surround

(Normal) 5.1 mode inside VEP, "ganged" single 5.1 output for surround aware hosts (the way it is now) - 6 channel output streams

(Special) 5.1 mode still inside VEP, but now 3 stereo pair outputs for non-surround hosts - 6 channel output streams

Once these stereo pairs appear back inside the DAW, it's trivial in most to route them to physical outputs for surround mixing and monitoring!

I see VEP a true game changer in the world of composing and the already inbuilt ability to act as a VST/VSTi host convertor for Logic (AU) and ProTools (AAX), this proposed surround convertor would only make it more so!

Let me know your thoughts, VSL, and/or anyone willing to comment.
