HI Guys,

I use a PC running Cubase and an IMAC running Logic X and Ableton for music production. I am looking at setting VEPro 6 for Master/Slave duties. I am also wanting to setup shared storage for samples that i can access and use on the PC and the IMAC.

Since my PC doest support Thunderbolt, i was thinking of setting 10GIG ethernet network, with 10Gig ethernet enables NAS for shared storage. I presume VEPRO 6 would also communicate over this same network.

Can anyone tell me if they think this is a good idea? has anyone done it before and got it working reliably? If not, what other options are the status quo here when using VEPro 6.

windows shares in samba protocol (expecially when the source is NOT a windows machine, like most NAS) suffers from bad performances when moving/copying (a lot of) small files, so depending of the kind of your shared data you should take this into account.

best would be to use NFS share in windows instead of SMB, nfs doesn't have this issue.
