  • Strange automation of the wet/dry slider

I'm using MIRx for a simple demo and when I accidentally right-clicked the wet/dry slider in the Advanced view, some kind of automation took control of the slider. When I right click again, sometimes it blinks a few times, but the automation continues. The manual doesn't say anything about this feature, so I have no idea what's happening there--but anyway, can I turn it off somehow?

My VEPro is version 6.0.15567, I'm using the 64-bit server, the instruments are Dimensions Brass, and the machine is Windows 10.

    Hi,

It seems as you activated the "MIDI Learn" function unintentionally.

Please see p.17 of Vienna Instruments Pro 2 Manual to find out how to make use of this feature.

    Kind regards,

  • The UI is quite strange for this slider. I'm in the Reverb tab within the Advanced view--not in the Basic view, as your reference to p.17 suggests. When I double-click on the wet/dry slider, it continues to jump wildly throughout its range. But if I alternate between double-clicking and right-clicking the slider, eventually it stops moving around and lets me use it.

Are you sure this isn't a bug? The behavior doesn't correspond to anything I could find in the manual.

  • Hi,

    That's not a bug.

The best way to reset a slider is to stop play-back (and any MIDI input), then right-click twice.

Alternatively, you can check the "Ctrl Map" Tab in Advanved View and reset the slider there.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Is there a way to disable this feature so that right-clicking on the slider does not do anything? I'm using a touchpad on one of my VEPro instances, so it's common for right-click to accidentally occur anywhere. For most applications this would at worst pop up a menu. So having the channel go into an unrecoverable state from a right-click is really a problem for me. In this case I had to delete the channel and create a new one, because the jumpy slider effect would never turn off. Your instructions did not work at all.

When I use VEPro, I'm focusing on complex music and trying to maintain a thread of creativity at the same time. This is difficult enough. Having "land mines" in the user interface--instantly activated features that cause hours of distraction--makes the product unusable. As I am working, I find myself aftraid to move the mouse into the VEPro window--and for good reason! Every time I have to adjust a setting, I am so worried about hosing the channels that I lose my train of thought about the music.

Please let me know if there is any way to disable the effect of right-click throughout the user interface. I'm ok with opening menus or something, but it should never change anything--much less destroy one of my channels.
