  • Library folders and single instrument folders

    Hey all!

Years ago I purchased Woodwinds I Standard and the library was installed in the folder "06_Woodwinds-1" by default. Today, I got myself Woodwinds II and these files are now installed all seperately in single instrument folders. Is this the way it should be? What I did now: I deleted all subfolders and put all the *.dat files into "07_Woodwinds-2". Is that the correct way?

    Hi Stevie,

I just checked your registrations, and because you purchase the Bass Clarinet Standard Library back in 2014, you have received the missing instruments contained in Woodwinds II with separate licenses and downloads, to complete your Woodwinds II Full Library.

You can organize the sample data as you like, just make sure that everything is assigned correctly in the Directory Manager.

  • Hey Paul!

Thanks, good to know. So that means I can create my own folder structure and VI Pro will take the samples from there, awesome.

However, what I would like to know is:
I have 2 different menus in the VI Pro browser. One says Woodwinds and the other one says Download Instruments. Do they have the same content and if so, how can I delete the "Download Instruments" menu?

  • Hello Stevie,

As your Woodwinds II are technically Single Instruments (which used to be called "Download Instruments"), they are located under "Download Instruments". In VI PRO, that's the same content as in the "B" Folder, but you cannot erase these hard-coded folders.

Hope you can work with that.

    Paul

  • Hey Paul! Ah okay, I can work with that :) I will just ignore the downloaded instruments and use the woodwind folder instead. Thanks for all the info! Stevie

    Paul,

I have a mix of Special Edition, Full Single Instruments, Download Instruments (Standard). To make things look a bit cleaner and presets easier to find, could you consolidate the Full and the Standard Instrument's folders, and get rid of the Download Instrument folder?

If I'm not wrong, Standard Instruments are the same as L1 Instruments inside the Full Instrument folders. For example, with Full Instruments you can have something like this:

    - B - Woodwind PRESET - Files
    -- 70 Soprano Sax
    --- SX-So VSL Preset Level 1
    --- SX-So VSL Preset Level 2

In case of Standard Instruments, couldn't you use the same folder structure, and put it into the same folder, like this?

    - B - Woodwind PRESET - Files
    -- 70 Soprano Sax
    --- SX-So VSL Preset Level 1

or, as an alternative if they don't exactly match,

    - B - Woodwind PRESET - Files
    -- 70 Soprano Sax
    --- SX-So VSL Standard

  • Hello Paolo,

Thanks for your input, but I'm afraid this structure will stay the way it is.
