Hi,

I'm currently using Logic Pro X as my DAW and a limiting feature is the inability to unload virtual instruments from RAM. In Digital performer it does this wonderfully. On each track you click the off button and the corresponding instance is shutdown - turning the button on again loads the instrument with the previous settings (much like the vienna instruments work in Vienna Instruments Pro. However, I'm not very fond of the midi editing in DP and prefer Logic's handling of this area.

I just wanted to know if this is possible with VEP? I'd like to have a project with all my VSL, East West, 8Dio and CineSamples instruments readily available so I can just enable the instrument I wish to use at any one time (I only have 16GB of RAM on my machine).

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Yes, in VE PRO 6 you can enable and disable channels, even automatable.

I have sent you another demo license for VE PRO 6 to check.

Best,
Paul

A couple of more questions please:

1) Is there a limit to the number of instances (along the top) and channels (on the left) in VEP? (as long as I have the tracks disabled/unloaded).

2) I currently work with East West samples for example by placing the brass section in its own reverb (EWQL Spaces), and the string section in its own reverb etc. via the sends/buses in Logic Pro X. How do I go about this workflow when using VEP?

Many Thanks

Hi Paulo,

1) There is always a limit, but it depends on your hardware as well. I don't think there is a hard-coded limit.

2) Many options. You could keep those sections separate in different VE PRO instances and reverberate them directly in VE PRO, or send the stereo output of those instances to VE PRO...

Give it a try with the demo license and see what works best for you.

Best,
Paul
