I've had my standard CFX now for several days and I love it. It's the closest thing to playing a real piano I have ever experienced. The Synchron Piano Player software gives an incredible amount of versatility to shape the sound. I love everything about it. I'm so impressed that I really want to upgrade to the full version before the discount price expires. I have a couple questions.

1. If I upgrade, will I be issued a separate license for the additional samples in the full version or will the license I received with the standard version be used with the new samples?

2. I can't fit the full version on my hard drive (for now), but from what I understand, I might be able to download whatever mics I can fit before running out of space. Is this correct?

3. Will I run into any problems integrating the full with the standard version even if it's one or two mics for now?

Thanks for the help.

God Bless,

David

Hi David,

from my experience I can say following:

1) I do not have the full Synchron Piano, but if it is like with the other products the full version will just upgrade your existing Licence (you will see a suffix "L2").
2) Yes, and you can download the missing ones later. You can even split the sample files to different drives. (You need to add the folder in the settings dialog in Synchron Player)
3) I don't think so. The full presets may not work as intended because of missing samples, but you can set this up to your own liking.

Thank you for the replies.

I have a few more questions just for clarification:

1. If I would have purchased the full version to begin with from VSL then I would have one folder in my VSL downloads that would contain all the samples in the full library?

2. However, now because I'm upgrading from the standard library, I'll have two folders in my VSL downloads, one with standard samples and one with full samples?

3. In the future I'll only be able to download one folder at a time either full or standard library?

4. The activation code for the upgrade won't be a separate license, but rather upgrade my preexisting license? So if I transfer my license from one Vienna key to another, I'm only transferring one license (the upgraded license)?

Thanks again for the help.

God Bless,

David

1. You can check which microphone positions to download in the Download Manager. Just download the ones missing.
2. No, don't think so. But you could do it manually if you want
3. see 1.
4. It is one license. You can't transfer only standard or full. It will be one entry in the eLicenser

Hi David,

Good choice; I find the extra mic positions very much worth having to give some extra options for the sound, and I always find myself using them.

Just to briefly describe the process of adding the full library in my experience:-

1.  Once you've bought the piano, you'll get an activation code for the Full Library Upgrade.

2.  You enter this activation code in eLicencer in exactly the same way you did for the first one, and it will create what it calls a Collection licence, which will include the original one ("SY Yamaha CFX") and the upgrade ("SY Yamaha CFX L2").  That's all you need for the licencing.

3. In MyVSL you'll find a new download file ("Yamaha CFX - Multi Library Download").  Downloading that file and opening it in the same Vienna Download Manager you already have installed will give you a list of the 5 new mics (and a couple of information files), and you can uncheck any you don't want to download from there.  There original 5 mics will not be in this list.

4. You can download the mic files to wherever you want.  Once downloaded, you run the installed in exactly the same way as you did previously for the standard libraries.  You don't need to keep the download files afterwards, but if you want to keep them in case you need to reinstall at some point, then you can move them to wherever you want.

5. The installed additional microphone files will now be wherever you told the installed to put them.  Again, these can be moved around to wherever you want, as long as you remember to add whatever folder(s) they're in to the Settings of Synchron Pianos when you next run it.  Do that before clicking any preset.

6. Now you can run any preset to load the samples, and all 10 microphones will automatically be available for you.

That's it!  It's very straightforward; much more so than most other piano VSTs.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. One thing I like about this entire setup is how easy it is to manage the files, run the software, and sculpt the sound. I'm going to download the upgrade sometime before the end of the month. Unfortunately, I really wont be able to use the full version because of the limited hard drive space on my current computer, but at least I'll have the full version (on a separate HDD) at the reduced price ready for when I can make use of it on a proper computer/SSD.

Thanks again to everyone for the help.

God Bless,

David

I've upgraded to the full version but I've been unable to use it because my hard drive space is limited. However, I ordered a new hard drive and it should be here tomorrow. I have a question regarding the installation of the CFX onto my new hard drive.

1. Currently, I have all the sample files saved to an external drive. That also includes the original download files that can be erased after they have been used to install the large sample files.

When I install the full CFX library onto the new hard drive, is it better to use the Synchron Library Installer to manually install the sample files from the original download files, or should I just copy and paste the already installed larger files to my new hard drive? Does this make sense? Thanks for the help.

God Bless,

David

Hi David,

You can go ahead and move the already installed files to your new harddrives (I'm also moving data around quite a lot).

If a copying error occures, you can stiill run the installation once again.

Finally received my new hard drive and installed the full CFX library. I'm really happy with it. Thanks for all the help. This is a great product and I'm looking forward to whatever Synchron piano projects are created in the future.
