  • Vienna Imperial on Surface Pro I

I am considering purchasing a used Surface Pro (the very 1st edition) as a permanent computer which I will attach my MIDI piano controller to and output audio using the Vienna Imperial instrument.

My question is do you think there will be enough processing power to play without considerable latency or overload? I am considering a model with an Intel i5-3317U processor (quad core, 1.70 GHz) and 4gb of RAM.

Please let me know if anyone has a similar set-up or would suspect the experience to be fairly seamless. I know the Vienna Imperial was designed for dual core and 2gb of RAM (with 4gb recommended) so I am hoping it will work fairly well.

  • Hi Freedmand,

I would consider something more powerful, even though VImperial is very versatile and you still can squeeze some performance out of it.

I ran it for years on a laptop with similar specs. Vienna Imperial is very light on computer resources.
