  • Limited MIDI Response Problem

Greetings, I have been using VEP6 without much problem for over a year now. Presently a problem has cropped up. I am attempting to trigger instruments with an external keyboards. Sending notes and CC though channel 1 to any instrument loaded in VEP6 will initiate sound. However, if I change that instruments receive channel to 2 and then change the transmitting keyboard to channel 2, MIDI activity is indicated within the instrument embedded within the VEP6 instance, but there is no sound generated. The volume is up and the audio routing has not changed. I have tried this with different instruments loaded and I experience the same issue. If I route the MIDI through the DAW on the Master, or route MIDI directly to the Instance using a USB keyboard connected to the Server, I get the same result. Instruments set to Channel 1 work fine, but nothing else.

Am I missing something obvious here?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • To be sure, I set up a MIDI monitor to see what data was being sent to VEP6 and confirmed that channel 2 note on note off and volume CC are being delivered. The MIDI activity light on the instrument channel is flashing as I play when it is set to receive on  channel 2, but no sound is being generated.  I even creted a new project and tried different instruments and different MIDI sources. In every case, the instrument only plays audio when triggered from MIDI channel 1.

  • Hi Robert,

The best idea is to post some screenshots or send them to support@vsl.co.at, so we can check out what's going on.

    Best,
