Anyone know if there is any possible way to get 32 mono audio returns from a single VEP instance back to logicPro, such that I could have 32 mono instruments feeding maybe 16 dual-mono instances of MirPro?  I haven't been able to figure out a way to patch that.  I am getting more and more into hosting MirPro inside LogicPro rather then in VEP, so that I can use MirPro other ways...but in particular when I use a slave VEP server, then this becomes more important for me as I'd really prefer less VEP instances, just one if possible, but that may not be possible if I want to host Mir in LogicPro instead of VEP.

So anyway, just trying to see if I can get more than 16 back.  Logic seems to support only 16 stereo returns, but wondering if there is some tricky way to use those 16 stereo returns in a way that they can turn into 16 dual-mono returns, with each mono feeding a seperate MirPro icon.  I haven't figure it out yet if so...

probably not worth the trouble, but just kind of wondering if it can be done.

so I might have figured it out a little bit.  If i use the Matrix mixer in VEP, then I can create channel 1 and matrix mix everythign to the left, then channel two and matrix mix every thing to the right.  send them both to 1/2.  Over in logic it comes back from Ensmeble as stereo.  Insert MIRPro in dual-mono mode, and I see two icons on the MirPro stage and so that much works fine and I can definitely get 32 instruments audio out of VEP returned to LogicPro that way and MirPro will pan them individually it seems.  the combined result from MirPro though, is still the stereo combination of the two instruments, which means I can't do any processing to them after MirPro seperately.  So there is that, but still, its nice to know I can get 32 instrument audios out of VEP into LogicPro this way.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please advise.  Obviously, can always just use more instances too.  :-)

Welp, no that doesn't work..  If I put MirPro on a stereo LPX channel in dual mono mode, then yes there are two instances of MirPro icons for each of the mono channels, but as far as MirPro is concerned its just two mono instances...so the results are two mono results...not stereo panned.

So back the drawing board...

Figured out a way to do it, but admittedly its overly complicated and involves a third party product...  But in case anyone is every searching for a way to do this, this is what I came up with...

Basically using Plogue Bidule I can more properly split the signal into the L and R cables.....then use the mono-to-stereo version of MirPro inside PlogueBidule, one instance for the L channel, one instance for the Right channel...and merge them back together into one stereo out..

In VEP you have to use the matrix mixer to force two channels to the same 1/2 outs, but forcing to the left or the right.  Maybe this could be done with simple panning, but I chose the matrix mixer.

Then back in LogicPro, put an instance of Bidule FX..and inside using the diagram shown below...as noted..and I believe this works.

This then will get 32 instruments of audio returned from VEP into LogicPro from a single instance.  Its kind of complicated though.

The reason I'm searching this out I guess is because I have a secondary VEP server license, and will try to use it.  However I can't justify the cost of a secondary MirPro license.  So if I want to use MirPro across more then one VEP server...I guess I need to do all Mir stuff inside the DAW.  Its not clear to me if I can use the AU MirPro plugin inside my DAW at the same time I am doing MirPro inside VEP on the same machine?  If so, that would at least let me worry only about applying Mir placement to whatever channels are on the remote VEP server..

Open to any other ideas anyone has about dealing with MirPro across multiple VEP servers...as well as any potentially better way to get 32 instrument channels from VEP back to LPX...or more?

I'm demoing MIR at the moment and I have a full 16 channels running in a VEP Instance as well as a number of channels of MIR inserted in Software Instrument channels in Logic with ESX instruments running on them.

What I see are two environments/rooms:

The first from inside VEP Pro contains all the VI channels running in the VEP Instance in one room in MIR.

The second is another MIR room with only the Software Instrument channels in Logic which have MIR insterted as a Plugin.

So it would appear that you can use mutiple rooms at the same time (should you wish to) but there isn't a unified view of all VI's addressing MIR in one room if some are in DAW channels and others are in VEP Instances.
