  • VI Library Updates

Are the library updates necessary if I download the latest library? In all cases the updates are older than the latest library files.

    For example: Chamber Strings I
    Library: 2013-06-23
    Update: 2011-12-13

In the past I downloaded the "older" update files and overwrote the "newer" library files in the directory manager, but I'm not sure if this is the correct way.

That's a good question.  I'd also like to know.

  • As far as I know the updates are included when the library date is newer then the update package date.

  • is there any harm in applying the updates either way?  That's what I did...

  • After applying the update it should show you how many samples were updated. If the update is already included it will show that nothing was updated. So it should not hurt if you try to apply an old update.

  • Hm... Yes, it showed the amount of samples, but these were already the newer library files. Maybe someone from VSL could chime in?

I hope that the updates didn't "overwrite" the "newer" files.

  • Hi,

Library Updates will never cause any harm.

  • Thanks, Paul!

  • Thanks, Paul.

But the date of the update files is a bit misleading...

If I hadn't asked, someone maybe wouldn't have downloaded the updates, because they are older than the library files. Despite the newer date of the library, the update was necessary, as the downloader manager showed it.
