Hi, dear VSL team and community!

I'm not a professional musician or composer, but I very like the work you do with VSL. And I have one question that sometimes upped on the forum time from time. What is the probability that you will support the Linux OS? I think you have to do this cause Linux is not only an OS for geeks. For example, I want to use VSL, but I can't do this on Linux and I don't use Windows for the last five years. As I understand, you can't do this because Steinberg eLicenser doesn't support Linux. What about to make your own alternative that will work on all major platforms? Right now, I should use old GIG libraries from 2004 that don't fully satisfy me. Thank you for work you already do to give people more opportunities in the orchestral music composition. Please, don't ignore us only because we love Linux ðŸ˜Š

    Thank you ðŸ˜ƒ

  • welcome si1n3rd, as you're already anticipating: there is just a minimal chance that VSL will support Linux - in the first place because the eLCC will not be available for Linux. compiling VSL software also for Linux might be a minor expensive task, but to migrate the whole copy protection system (and all libraries) to a custom one would be a large-scale deal. sorry for the moment ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • That's sad. Is there any possibility to run VSL on a Windows machine and communicate with it from another machine with Linux and DAW on it?

UPD. I've found that it's possible to transport audio and midi between Linux, Windows, and OSX.
