  • Warning before deleting a channel?

Going back between Cubase and VE7, I believe I was editing the piano roll.  I press the delete, but the focus was not on Cubase but instead VE7.  So it deleted the channel. 😠

How do I get a pop-up warning In VE7 to come up when a channel is about to be deleted?

I ended up doing a control-Z to bring it back, but what a pain/time waste.

    Hi,

    Don't be 😠.

I'll see that we'll add an option in VE Pro Preferences, hope this can be added quickly.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Yes, a checkbox in the Preferences with the ability to pop-up message before delete will be nice.

But, I think this is a bug.  In Standalone, the delete button will work for SD3. When in VE7, the delete will not delete the groove selected in SD3 instead the channel gets deleted.

Okay, I made a Video so you can see what I did.

The delete button should not delete a channel. Especially when the focus was on the plugin within VE7.

Going back and forth between Cubase and VE7 happens all the time.  I could be in Cubase editing the piano roll, editing the Expression Maps, editing the CC7 and CC11.  Often times I need to delete notes.  But if I make a simple mistake of having the focus on VE7, the simple delete key will destroy a channel. 👎

Now that I think about it, I don't want a pop-up.  I don't want the channel to be deleted by just pressing one key.

To delete a channel, more effort needs to be required by the user.

  • Hi,

While we're talking details: "To delete a channel, more effort needs to be required by the user."

=> What would be a good example for "more effort" for you, considering this is the first complaint about this in 8 years?

    Best,

  • Make a checkbox in Preferences to turn off deleting channels on delete button press.

To delete a channel, use the gui at the bottom of the channel list.

Delete button should still work for other things.

You have to wonder why no one else comes across this.  Is it just me?  Or   It takes time and effort to post a 'how to duplicate' a problem.  Let alone a video.  I go back and forth between VSL and the expression map editor in Cubase like ping-pong.  It happens to me many times, enough to push me to make a video.

8 years huh? To be fair, I should have posted this a year ago or more.  So it really should only be 7.

I had a question to another plugin.  ilya efimove responded

Thank you for being our customer and sorry for the delay in reply. It's
really great that you studied the manual so thoroughly, because you have
found mistypes nobody ever noticed since all these years the Duduk has
    been released.

  • How does Cubase handle deletion of tracks?

Selecting a track and pressing delete will NOT delete the track.

You need to press SHIFT + DELETE to remove a track.

    No idea how Logic works.

VE7 should follow same type of method.  Simple one key DELETE should not remove a channel.  If  the user wants to remove the channel they will have to use 2 keys to get it done through the keyboard.  (SPECIAL KEY + DELETE).

  • How does Logic handle deletion of a track?

I was told, you can delete a track in Logic using just the DELETE key.  But, it pops up a confirmation box.

Tracks in Cubase and Logic are like channels in VEPro7.

    What do other people think?
