Hello,

I am currently running VEP on a Master and a few slave computers. For now, I upgraded a single license on my main slave and updated VEP on my DAW computer. (I saw in another thread you do not actually need a license on a system that isnt hosting the slave, so I would try it). The weird thing is, it is connecting fine; however, it is not transmiting any midi. If I go over to the slave and click on notes, everything comes through on my master computer.

Do I need to purchase a second license, or is there something else going on?

Hi Pete,

VE Pro will only connect between same versions.

Best,
Paul

Thanks for the reply Paul.

So this was the current setup:

Master: VEP7 Plugin. No license (still on 5)

Slave: VEP7 Server. With License.

I loaded the server perfectly fine and the plugin in my DAW connected to it as it should. However, it will not transmit midi, even though the server is recognizing it is receiving midi data. If I trigger notes on my slave computer, the audio is coming through in the DAW. For a quick fix, I just routed the audio from this borked VEP instance to an audio track and played along via my slave computer through Copperlan. (Janky, but it worked).

Based on your comment, I just purchase an addtional license of VEP7, so now it is:

Master: VEP7 With License

Slave: VEP7 With License

However, the problem still is not resolved. No midi, although it is registering events on the server, will trigger anything. Audio goes between the two systems perfectly fine. I'm afraid that I now just purchased an additional license that I do not need.

Uninstalled and reinstalled and it appears to be working. Not quite sure what happened. I can confirm that VEP7 plugin will connect without a license to VEP7 on a slave with a license. Not sure what I am going to use the additional license for at the moment, but I'll probably be using it in the future.
