    Hi dunk187

To me your score is excellent and sounds real.
Please tell us something about the harp glissando and also about
    your mix (reverb&mastering).
    You did it for free?

    Thanks for shearing your composition

  • Hi LT,

Thanks for listening man! Well, what would you like to know? A lot of the times I'm doing the score way to quickly to actually document or even organize for that matter! I'd be happy to try and answer any questions you may have. I do use a lot of harp glissandi, and that is what the old TV show use to do so I derived it from there. I use Sam Trumpets for the "louder" FF trumpet phrases.

As far as the Mix goes. I'm only using 2 gigapulses, 1 "Close" for the instruments, and one "far" for the percussion. It seems to work great.

P.S. Yes I did this one for fun, and also the great exposure....These guys are pretty high profile in the Sci-Fi community.

  • Hi again

    thank you for answering
I would like to ask you if the harp glissandi are from real performance or programmed by you (and how you did it), because they sound as they were real

    thanks

  • LT,

The harp Gliss is all VSL pro edition. It's actually not very difficult once you get the hang of it. Just get used to working on the timing of your mod-wheel. You can make it sound pretty natural with the the right timing. Another thing to remember is the dynamics, if the trumpets are blazing FF, take some of the reverb off of the harp and mid-range EQ, this gives it the illusion that it's actually playing louder than it sounds. Hope this helps.
