    Hi all,

Continuing my exploration of mixing VSL and Live Players.

    Häxan

Piano, Bassoon and Uprigth Bass are from VI - Full Libraries.

The Flute and the Brass section have been performed and multitracked by a life musician.

Mixed in Cubase with MIR24 andStudio Weiler.

Any comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

  • That sounds flawless, there is no audible difference between live and sampled!  ALso I like that piece and wish there was more of it.

  • Thanks William,

that means a lot coming from someone who has quite some impressive publications with VSL himself!

I always struggled with length. My workflow still is so slow.

The VSL samples are amazingly realistic, that's for sure.

    Thanks
    Stefan

  • Very nice, Stefan!  I've experimented with the live players/VSL set-up as well, and am in fact, working on an album with clarinet, accordion, and VSL orchestra/chamber combinations right now.  Your results are impressive and encouraging that such projects can work!

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Thanks Dave!

    I rely heavily on MIR.

This time I experimented with different directions in MIR. I think it was Paul who pointed out in one post, that it migth be a good idea to point instruments away from the mic.

It seems to work great for the French Horns.
They point to the wall anyway in real life.

    MIR Setup

    Thanks

  • Thank you for the MIR setup info as well! I subscribed to you on Soundcloud. Cheers, Dave
