Hi, VSL team!

Congratulations on your new Bösendorfer 280VC! I really like the sound of this piano, and I am considering adding it to my collection. One thing makes me hesitate, though. I have noticed, as others have, that the sympathetic resonance feature is always switched off (set to -inf dB) in all your demo videos. So, before I decide to buy yet another Synchron piano, I want to ask you:

1. Do you feel that sympathetic resonance is not important in making a piano VST sound realistic?

2. If you do believe sympathetic resonance is important, are you not happy with how the feature works for the Synchron pianos?

I have all the other Synchron pianos, and I have never been able to make the feature give me a natural sound. Setting it to 0 dB, I still feel it's just barely there. Increasing it makes it sound artificial to my ears.

I have spent a lot of money already on VSL instruments, and I would appreciate to hear what you think about this feature, and if we can expect any updates or improvements.

Best regards,
DrGroove

I am still on the fence here.

I would be happy to hear what other Synchron users do. Does anybody here have any recommendations or sympathetic resonance settings that you find work well for you?

Thanks!

Best regards,

I think I enjoy it on the 280VC.  I don't know if it's because the close mics are different, or maybe just the more clinical feel of the actual instrument.  But anyway the way it rounds off the tone seems pleasant.  Nothing to write home about but I think it will come in handy.

Thanks for your input. I think I might go for the 280VC and try it myself. The refund option is something I appreciate, so kudos to VSL for offering that!
