  • Resolved: Disconnected instances can't be found by Cubase 12when attempting to reconnect

    Hello All

I had an audio session going with Cubase 12.05 pro and VE Pro 7.2.1515 and the memory situation was getting tight - I had 5 several largish instances loaded, so I disconnected some instances I was not using at that moment to conserve power and memory. However, when I tried to reconnect the instances, Cubase 12 could not find them even though they were on the server and inside of my server project.

Tried restarting everything but it seems like Cubase 12 is stuck on not seeing the instances when I go to the edit instrument tab in the VST instruments panel.

Is this a Cubase 12 problem?

Any way to rescue my project? Without the instances, I'll have to start from scratch on another project.

    Thanks

  • Hi!

If the issue persists even after restarting your computer(s), I would try to connect to the existing instance manually by typing in the computer IP (127.0.0.1 if the VE Pro Server runs on the same computer) and the instance name. Let us know via support@vsl.co.at and we can look into this more closely. Info we need: Network settings & make sure to check your firewall/security software.

  • In Studio One the instances regularly disconnect and are unable to reconnect. ( S1 & VEP on same machine)

I am using S1 in non rosetta mode.

I have found a workaround - disable the VEP ' instrument ' in Studio One. Enabling it again allows it to see and connect to VEP.

I am not familiar with Cubase, but assume there is something similar.

Frustrating ? Annoying ? Yes but a workaround.

ps. S1 has a ' plug in nap ' feature which I thought might be the culprit, but it's not. I have that switched off.

  • O. K. Typing in the server and instance name allowed Cubase to find the instance. Thanks.
