  • Mir Pro 3D Low Distorted buzz

    Hi Dietz,

I encounter a irritating low buzz since the latest upgrade. I'm not sure but it doesn't seem to happen every time but like say 4 to 5 out of ten when I load an instrument in Mir. And created a role in the preset manager. I found out that switching off the Room equalizers feature makes the Buzz disappear. Switching it on, its back again. But...... When I edit the Room equalizer by bypassing all the EQ points one by one its gone. And if I switch the whole lot on it stays away. All is good! The Room equalizer is switch on as in the begin but no low buzz. Weird!! Well to me it is. Maybe it quit clear to you bright guys at VSL! Its a minor bug but its still a bug. Wright?

    Best regards,

    Willem

  • Hi Willem,

Of course, this noise is not intentional, but I cannot recall any comparable reports, nor have I heard it myself so far. Any chance for an audio recording and an exemplary project that exhibit the issue? A bit of information regarding your setup (OS, CPU, RAM, host, software versions etc.) will help, too.

I'm sure we'll solve that issue swiftly. :-)

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Dietz,

I cant reproduce this "bug" anymore. Seems like an one day/session freak incident. All for the better ofcource. Sorry for the hassle.

    Best,

    Willem

  • I would be very happy if it would be like that. But I'm a bit hesitant to mark that issue as "solved" as there were indeed two other users in the meantime who were reporting faint audio-artifacts with the most recent version of MIR 3D. They seemed to go away by simply disabling/re-enabling the plug-in, but that's of course not the intended workflow.

VSL's software engineers already look into it, but the problem doesn't seem to be reproducible yet.

Please feel free to re-vive this thread as soon as you run into the issue again!

    TIA,

  • Hello, I was reading this thread looking for an answer to a seemingly related issue I'm having after upgrading to Mir Pro 3d today... I have heard a buzzing like the previous post mentions, but not every time I use it. I do, however, experience a different problem every time.

    FYI, I'm on a Mac Pro (2019 16-core), OSX 12.6.7.

Basically, If I change a Character EQ setting to something other than the default setting (Pure) I get a pop, then the meter on that instrument spikes like it is getting a very loud signal, and no more sound passes through that Mir Pro plugin. Additionally, projects that I previously used Character EQ settings on also display this behavior.

I've made a short video to show this issue which you can download from my google drive here:

    Thanks,

  • Hi Brian, Not good. Not good at all! I suggest you contact the VSL support guys if you haven't done already. I cant give you any real advice on this. It's way above my head. But I'm sure they will sort you out. They're very competent trust me. Good luck and stay out of the sun and watch out not to de-hydrate.

  • Hi Brian!

Thanks for bringing this up. Two things that come to mind. First, this behaviour reminds me of a version mismatch between Plug-In and the server App. And second, you seem to be using version 7.2.3325. But the current version is 7.2.3439

In order to make sure there is no version mismatch and you have the latest version. Please uninstall Vienna MIR Pro 3D completely. And make sure both the App and the Plugin(s) are gone (try to insert the Plug-In into a Logic Pro session).

    Then install the latest version.

    Thank you!

    Konrad

  • Hi Konrad,

You mention the current version: 7.2.3439 in your comment on Brian, but I cant find this latest version anywhere. Not in the Vienna Assistant nor on the VSL site. Can you point me as where to find the latest version? Thanks in advance.

    Best:

    Willem

  • Hi Brian and Willem!

Sorry about the confusion. The latest released version is indeed 7.2.3325. @Brian could you still do that complete re-install?

    Thank you

    Konrad

  • Thanks so much for the responses... I have done the full uninstall, verified that the plugin did not show up in Logic, and then reinstalled version 7.2.3325 as suggested. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. It still exhibits that same behavior whether it's an instrument track or an audio track being fed into Mir Pro 3d.

What is odd is that I can use the eq manually, and I can even save my own preset and load it from the Character EQ window, but I can't use the drop down menu to load one of the factory presets. Not sure what that means, but I hope that information is helpful. Thanks,

    Brian

  • Thanks a lot for the info, Brian! I managed to reproduce this. It is due to an obscure artifact in one of our filter coefficient calculations. It is fixed now and you can expect an update very soon. In the meantime: be advised that this happens when you select a peaking filter with a frequency exactly at (sample rate)/4.

So 12000 Hz if you run on 48000 Hz

    Thanks again!
