There's a post on Northern Sounds today, Mike's Continuing NAMM Adventures - Day 2. where Mike Greene, a Pro Edition owner, states that he was told by a VSL employee that:

1. All the pre-orders were lost
2. That everything was shipping at the end of February
3. It would take a few extra months to straighten out the lost orders

Is this true?

Well I've already had confirmation from Time and Space, so maybe it's just Mike's order that has been lost........!

I re-read his post. He's definitely kidding. I believe Mike was agonizing (like a lot of us) about whether to be early adopters. I think he decided to hold off, but now is reconsidering (although it's too late to get the early adopter deal). He's poking fun at the early adopters.

I should have set up the gag better, but it was indeed supposed to be a joke (I did put a big grin right after the line.) I was answering a question by Lee Blaske, who I knew preordered during the earlybird sale.

I can't imagine VSL would really screw up that badly and need months after the release to straighten it out. Still, i obviously caused some stressful confusion and I sincerely apologize for that. I've edited the original post at NS to be more clear. Smile

Edit: The part about everything shipping by the end of February is not a joke. That's what I was told. I'm a little nervous that the word "everything" may not have been used when I asked, but the main parts are expected to ship by then.

Between two folks who attended NAMM and have posted on this forum (and also NS), we now have two separate shipping dates and for me, some serious misinformation.

1) Are the people who subscribed getting delivery in January as promised? Yes or No?

2) Are the shipping dates being reported by Mike Greene and Eric Brooking for those who didn't pre-order or for those who did?

3) If "everything" is shipping end of February, early March, does that mean the credit cards, for those who did half, will be billed earlier than April?

Any changes in shipping and billing should be announced here first. I really don't like finding out about it on Northern Sounds. I hope VSL staff can appreciate that.

I was wrong about the shipping dates. When I asked today, they said most , if not all the strings would ship in a few weeks. The rest would gradually come out over the course of the next two or three months. I don't know how I got it wrong yesterday, but there it is. And don't quote me on these new estimates. It's all from memory and I visited a LOT of booths.

Keep in mind, I'm just some guy wandering the halls and often getting stuff wrong or pushing for answers developers aren't ready to commit to. I try to be accurate when I post, but everything I say should be treated as "rumor." My NAMM reports over on NS were really only intended as fun. Smile

It could be that ILIO and the VSL staff are playing it safe for new purchase delivery times. But I did get the early bird special from ILIO and they told me early March before they took my credit card. Look it's January 22 and VSL employees told me that the DVD's are at the press but it will take a few weeks to package etc. But then they need to ship them to ILIO and then they need to reship to us. So who knows? Treat all this as rumor but I personnally don't care how long it takes, I saw and heard it at NAMM and I'll wait however long it takes to get VI, it's cool.
Keep samples dry, that's what convolution is for.

FYI - we adjusted the release dates to february for solo, chamber, orchestral strings and woodwinds I and to march for the other collections. reason have been some unexpected last-minute issues with the AU version and delays with QC (man, this are a lot of samples to be checked ...).

but opposed to other products our delay is still within a few weeks and not years Devil - SCNR

although manufacturing is already in the works unfortunately we cannot speed up the process currently
christian

btw peter: pre-orders? what do you mean with that? i don't know about something like that, so nothing could have been lost ... hehehe Stick out tongue
and remember: a CRAY is the only computer that runs an endless loop in just four hours ...

Chris, this is the kind of thoughtful post I appreciate and can support. Pre-orders to me are the "early bird specials." Pre-order, I guess, is a more American term meaning advanced order where you place the order and pay for it before the product ships.

Thanks for the info!

Best,,

As an "early bird" customer I received an e-mail today from ILIO finally telling us that VI will be late and that depending on where we live, shipping could take up to a week.

HEY! As I wrote back to ILIO, we prepaid this, the distrubutors ran the cards and took the money while we're making payments on product we haven't received. ANY distributor who hasn't e-mailed advanced paying customers about the delay is WAY BEYOND MC/Visa requirements. FREE shipping is the LEAST we can be offered.

You ran the cards.
You took the money.
You cover the shipping.

That's more than fair. Since we coveted to receive the product in January, we need to be assured we receive the product in February, at the very minimum.
