1.Intel or AMD with VSL 1/7/2020 5:06:14 AM

Cheers,

What is the verdict now that there is a latency number? How do the new AMD chips compare to the intel chips? Is intel still better?
2.VEP6 - Logic and Cubase huge performance difference 8/12/2016 1:50:17 AM

I'm surprised to hear such a big difference in performance. What is your thread count set per instance in VE PRO 6? Make sure you are spreading your processor out properly on that front.

3.VEP6 - Logic and Cubase huge performance difference 8/10/2016 11:17:04 PM

Hi Jon,

Make sure you have Asio Guard disabled in Cubase 8.5 for the Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 plugin as that can cause performance issues. To do this, go to Devices/Plug-in Manager and select Vienna Ensemble Pro that shows VST3.65 as the VST version and choose at the bottom "inactive" for Asio Guard. You may need to click on the small "i" on the bottom left for the bottom panel to display the Asio Guard information to change it from Active to Inactive.

4.User Made Expression Maps Repository 5/8/2014 8:35:51 PM

Major +1 to that Dragonfly. There needs to be a better way of getting maps made/customized.

5.Repetition samples a little strange 7/11/2013 7:39:02 PM

Hi Julian,

The Legato Interval patch in general from Orchestral Strings contain one alternate sample which is why when you repeat a note, it sounds different but not when repeated more than that. The solution to this is to load up in your Performance Repeition folder the Legato Slow patch which have many more repitition samples built in to solve this issue.

6.VE Pro and Ivory : ( Ivory not being recognised AT all? 8/31/2012 6:40:50 PM

Hi Stefan,

I'm an Ivory user as well running version 1.72 on Windows 7 and it seems to be working fine here running VE PRO Build 11262 under the 64 bit Server mode.

When I go to add plug-in, Ivory shows up here. Are you certain that your Ivory.dll file is stored where VE PRO is looking? My plug-in is stored under program files/synthogy/vstplugins/ so I added that unique path in the VST Settings window and then did a 'rescan all' to ensure that it found it.

Another possibility is that you are trying this on the Vienna Server 32 bit mode instead of the 64 bit one.

7.SOS UPDATE FOR MAC 64BITS 3/12/2010 11:05:10 PM

I suggest that you install the latest version of the eLicenser Control Center from www.elicenser.net. See if this fixes your issue.

8.Download "3-Depth" presets for the V ienna Suite Convolution-Reverb 10/24/2009 7:56:33 AM

Beat, I did a fresh install to Windows 7 (I was using Vista previously) and realized that I didn't copy over the presets before I formatted the drive. After clicking on the link to get the presets again, it appears to be invalid. Do you still have these available for download? I found them quite useful and already had used them in some work.

9.Download "3-Depth" presets for the V ienna Suite Convolution-Reverb 10/4/2009 11:22:45 PM

Hi Beat,

I look forward to those as your presets are quite useful! Thaks for sharing them :).

10.To Christian or DG or Dietz for best system ? 8/19/2009 9:05:47 PM

I have (2) 5550 Intel Xeon processors running MIR and Cubase on the same machine with 24 GB of ram. I am able to have around 30 Vienna Instruments loaded running at 256 buffer with some headroom for more. With the Dynamic Processing feature, You really can get some great performance because if you aren't using a Vienna Instrument for a few seconds in your part, it becomes inactive to free up CPU usage.

11.License on Dongle not Detected 6/10/2009 1:45:33 AM

I also have GVI and had trouble with the license being found. The solution was to uninstall the Syncrosoft License Control Center and then install GVI with the Vista installer that Tascam has for it. The GVI Installer includes Syncrosoft License Control Center on it. Launch the GVI Standalone and see if it detects your license. If so, install the latest License Control Center now. It worked for me.

Since Tascam no longer supports GVI, I'm afraid they probably won't be any help for you.

12.Intel Xeon processor 5500 or i7 6/9/2009 10:28:27 PM

The only reason to purchase a Xeon processor is because of the Dual Quad capability primarly.  The Nehalem i7's can not be setup in a Dual Quad combination. you can only have one i7 on a machine. I would only suggest looking into the Xeon 5500 line if you are interested in using MIR and everything else on one machine. For any other purpose, I think the i7 would probably be fine but of course that is my opinion :).

13.Vienna Suite Presets 5/29/2009 7:55:01 AM

Trying the demo out is the best thing to do. The presets are great to speed up the time to find the right sound you are looking for when placing your Vienna Instruments in a mix. The EQ presets in particular have made a huge difference for me. They are very useful and also easy on the CPU.

Let your ears be the judge :-).

14.General question EQ/Limiter/Compressor/etc. 5/8/2009 7:12:41 PM

Hi Larry,

Have you taken a look at the video's showcasing Vienna Suite on the Vienna website? They can be found here: http://vsl.co.at/en/211/1343/1348/1594/1245.vsl

They are quite helpful to show you a good visual and audio example of what these effects can do for your instruments!

15.Mir Demos - Great ... but quite dry? 4/21/2009 4:45:16 AM

The biggest benefit of the PC over the Mac Pro is the fact that a 5500 Series based PC can carry 12 dimm slots compared to the Mac Pro's which only has 8 dimm slots and because of the tripple memory architecture which you have to use ram sticks in 3's. This makes a huge difference as far as expandability. I ordered an Octo Xeon 2.66 with 12 GB of ram for now with the option of going all the way to 24 GB in the future :). This should be one fast machine!

16.Mir Demos - Great ... but quite dry? 4/13/2009 1:21:07 AM

Hi Wolfgang, you are correct in your assumption. The Nehalem processors that are Xeon are server grade i7's but they are referred as Xeon 5500 and not i7. The main difference is that you can put two quads in this setup. You can only have one quad i7. I'm just wondering if the performance would be any better with dual Xeon Nehalems compared to one i7. Is there any memory advantage? I'd like to personally have everything on one machine (MIR and Cubase 5 on a PC).

17.Mir Demos - Great ... but quite dry? 4/11/2009 10:14:28 PM

Hi Dietz,

So in your opinon if one were to use MIR and a sequencer on the same machine, would a single quad Nehalem 2.93 Ghz with 12 GB of DDR 3 1600 be adequate for running an orchestra? Would a dual Xeon Nehalem 2.66 with 12 GB of DDR 3 1600 MHz make a much bigger difference?

18.VST Expression -- to be supported by Vienna Instruments, Garritan, and others 4/9/2009 1:39:04 AM

Cubase 5.01 now supports CC control in VST Expression. Here is a quote from Steinberg:

"It is now possible to define up to two individual MIDI Control Change
messages for a Sound Slot in the Output Mapping area. Each sound slot
can be associated with a color. When working in the MIDI editors, such
as the Key Editor, you can use the Color Scheme Selector in the Toolbar to colorize note events by Sound Slots."

19.Price for MIR 4/5/2009 10:43:00 PM

Will there be an upgrade path to MIR Pro/Premium if you purchase the download version of MIR now?

20.New Mac Pros and VSL 3/6/2009 12:56:39 AM

Memory speed is important because it plays a key part in how low a buffer setting you can have when running multiple Virtual Instruments and FX. That is how I have understood it.

21.New Mac Pros and VSL 3/3/2009 9:57:06 PM

I am hopeful that performance will be much better than the previous 8 core 2.8 Mac Pro...I find it strange that Apple has included the new Nehalem processor in their machines at very low clock speeds while upping the actual price of the machine. It's as if we are buying the same power that we could have had a year ago in their now old Mac Pro. I hope that I am wrong and the performance is very noticeable in the 2.26 8 core. I think the real main benefit will be the faster ram that these machines can now utilize.

22.UI Bug? 2/9/2009 6:02:08 PM

Have you tried closing some of the virtually open plug-ins to see what will happen? I use Cubase as well and from my experience closing some windows will help and as well as just moving the plug-in a bit to "refresh" the screen. I haven't had this particular problem from the Vienna Suite plug-ins that I can recall however.

23.Cubase 5 2/4/2009 12:57:45 AM

One feature that I really like in particular is the new batch export. I can't wait to get it myself. I hope it will be more stable than Cubase 4 was when it was first released!

24.licence problems 7/1/2008 9:45:23 PM
Hi there,

Have you tried reinstalling the Syncrosoft License Control Center? You can get the latest update on www.syncrosoft.com by clicking on the support section at the top right of the website. The latest version is 5.4.2.3. After you download and install the update, retry inputting the activation code VSL sent you.
